Actor Daniel Craig has spilled the news that another chapter in the long-running 007 franchise is on the way. According to Variety, following a performance of A Steady Rain, the play he's currently starring in with Hugh Jackman on Broadway, Craig told a fan that filming of the 23rd 007 movie will begin in late 2010.
Screenwriters Peter Morgan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are currently at work on a script, but no director has been announced. MGM has not commented on Craig's statement, as of yet.

Louis Letterier's (The Incredible Hulk) remake of The Clash of the Titans is adding some actors to its cast that will be quite familiar to James Bond fans. Casino Royale villain Mads Mikkelson is joining the cast as Draco, a leader of the Praetorian Guard that follows Perseus (played by Terminator Salvation's Sam Worthington) during his quest.
Quantum of Solace's Gemma Atherton will play Io, a part she described as "the coolest" to Emipre. "Io’s not in the original film," Atherton continued. "Perseus falls in love with her and then [Empire censors a "tiny spoiler"]. It’s a really great part.”
While the movie is still a remake of the 1981 original, Atherton claims the script is "very different" and while the story may be similar, the remake is "more about Perseus’ mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus."

Looks like the adaptation of Green Lantern is doing better than "moving forward." It's going into production. Apparently, the movie will start shooting in mid-September in Australia. Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) will direct the movie, which is based on the DC comic book about a test pilot named Hal Jordan who receives a ring of limitless power.
This is good news for DC, who only has few comic book movies in the works (Suicide Squad, possibly Wonder Woman, and another Batman movie whenever Christopher Nolan is ready to make one). DC is also vying to compete with Marvel, who has several Avengers movies in the works.
A casting decision on Hal Jordan has yet to be made. However, IESB reports that Star Trek's Chris Pine is on the "short list" of candidates.

Green Lantern has already been announced as "not on hold" by screenwriter Marc Guggenheim, but recent developments show the movie is getting close to being made. While co-screenwriter Greg Berlanti has previously been slated to direct, Variety reports that Martin Campbell, director of Casino Royale, is in talks to direct the movie instead.
Michael Green, the third co-screenwriter of Green Lantern, explains: "Warner Bros. doesn't do greenlights the way a lot of places do. They sort of always inch towards it, so there's never a day where they're like, 'Boom! Magic bomb! We're greenlit!' But we've had very good conversations with them. From what I'm told, they really like the last script we gave them and are hoping to find a way to make it, which would be thrilling," Green told IGN.
As for the script details, Green did reveal that the movie will concern original Green Lantern Hal Jordan. "I can't give too many spoilers, but the idea is to introduce a new character to an audience that is probably not familiar with him. So we start at the beginning with Hal Jordan."
Will Green Lantern tie in to the on-again off-again Justice League movie? Said Green: "The only mandate such as it is was, 'Any references you want to make to expand the DC world, we would enjoy,' which is one of the better notes you can get. It's like, 'Oh, more candy? Please!' They opened up the DC toy box on that, so it was fun. It's definitely tied to the familiar DC universe."
Which means that DC is still trying to set up a Justice League to rival the 2011 Avengers movie.

Ever since the title of the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, was unveiled in January, 007 fans have been scratching their heads trying to determine just what the heck the puzzling moniker means.
(Spoiler Alert)
As it turns out, "Quantum" is name of the shadowy terrorist organization alluded to -- but never identified -- in 2006's Casino Royale. Quantum features much more prominently in the storyline of the latest film, which picks up just one hour after its predecessor.
Whether Quantum will be the new SPECTRE (a fixture of earlier Connery/Moore Bond flicks) is unclear at this point, as work on the next 007 script has yet to begin. But can fans expect Quantum to appear in some capacity in future chapters of the franchise? "That's the plan," Quantum of Solace producer Barbara Broccoli told us yesterday. Check out what we also learned about what could be in store for Bond 23 and beyond.

Sony announced today that Swiss director Marc Forster (Monster's Ball, Stranger than Fiction) has been tapped to helm the next James Bond flick, currently known as Bond 22. Forster, who just recently completed production on The Kite Runner, was chosen from a list of candidates that reportedly included the likes of Tony Scott (Deja Vu), Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), and Alex Proyas (I, Robot).
Forster's hiring comes on the heels of last month's announcement that Casino Royale scribe Paul Haggis will be brought back to help write a follow-up. Haggis received much of the credit for helping revitalize the Bond franchise with his re-write of the Royale script.
Bond 22 is set to begin shooting in December at London's venerable Pinewood Studios, with Daniel Craig set to once again play the iconic British superspy.

Paul Haggis, the heavy-handed Crash scribe credited with revitalizing the James Bond franchise with his work on the Casino Royale script, has signed on to help write the follow-up, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The latest Bond flick, currently known as Bond 22, is still without a director. According to the Times, there are four helmers vying for the job: Tony Scott (Deja Vu), Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), Marc Forster (Monster's Ball) and Alex Proyas (I, Robot).
Not exactly a director's Hall of Fame (save for Forster, who has done fantastic work in the dramatic realm).
Bond 22 is slated for a November 2008 release.

Variety is reporting that British actor Daniel Craig has signed on to act in the upcoming Holocaust drama Defiance, which
will be written and directed by Edward Zwick (Blood Diamond).
Based on the true story from Nechama Tec's memoir of the same name, Defiance tells the story of four Jewish brothers who join up with Russian resistance fighters in WWII Poland.
Craig, who is best known for taking over the role of James Bond (Casino Royale), appears to have a burgeoning penchant for playing Jewish badasses (witness: Munich).
I think I can say I speak for all of my people when I say, "Shalom, and glad to have you, sir."
Next Showing: Defiance is scheduled for release on November 11, 2008.
