Actress Sarah Polley received yet another accolade for her feature directing debut, Away From Her, this weekend when she was named Best Director at the Directors Guild of Canada awards.
The movie, which is based on a short story by Alice Munro, stars Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent as a couple facing Alzheimer's. It also won Best Feature Film and Best Feature Editing.
In case there was any doubt before, you should definitely keep an eye on Away From Her as the oscar race approaches!

A batch of smaller releases arrive on DVD this week, including Sarah Polley's directorial debut Away From Her, the small-town drama Snow Cake (to which our own Heather Huntington gave a seven out of ten), and the hot-chicks-and-martial-arts flick DOA: Dead or Alive.
My own personal choice for this week would be Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror. Though I haven't actually seen the film, I have a hard time believing that the great Snoop Dogg would lend his proud name to any product that isn't of the highest quality.
