i saw this movie and i thought it was touching movie. it was a good family movie. but the only thing i got say is that the ending could have ended better. the ending was good but i think i could have ended with them (lyla, louis, and august.) being together.

Directed by Kirsten Sheridan and written by Nick Castle (Escape From New York, Hook) and James V. Hart (The Last Mimzy, Contact), August Rush is the story of a family separated by chance and reunited by music. It stars Freddie Highmore as Evan, a young orphan on the lam looking for his unwitting parents (Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers) in New York City. But when street performer Maxwell "Wizard" Wallace (Robin Williams) discovers Evan is a musical prodigy, he renames him August Rush and tries to exploit his talents. I think August Rush is meant to be a heartwarming 'fantastical drama' that the whole family can enjoy, but instead it is a sappy, cheesy, saccharine mess with cringe-worthy dialogue, a ridiculous premise, and creepy characters (a burned out guy with anger issues that is basically a pimp for child street musicians?!--come on!!!). Some actors (Terrence Howard, little Jamia Simone Nash) fare better than others (Russell, Rhys Myers), but ultimately everyone looks bad--even normally talented Highmore during his freaky, ridiculously fake music playing. In short, the only thing astounding about this movie is how bad it is. It should be avoided at all costs.

i went to the movies to see this, was entertained by the story and the music. Although sappy I guess, I thought it was enjoyable. You know where it is going but so what and as far as being logical I saw it more as a fairy tale type story.
