It's quite a busy DVD Tuesday this week, with several major releases making their debuts on home video. Noteable titles include Death Sentence, the suburban dad reveng flick from Saw director James Wan; Dragon Wars (aka D-War), an action fantasy based on Korean legend; Sunshine, the scary, trippy sci-fi flick from 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle; and the evil child creepfest Joshua.
Our pick for the week is the splendid western 3:10 to Yuma, starring Russell Crowe, Christian Bale and Ben Foster.

While promoting his new flick Joshua, director George Ratliff discussed plans for his next project:
"David Gilbert and I wrote an adaptation of Don Delillo's second novel, End Zone. It's a wonderful football satire -- it's kind of like MASH on the football field. ATO Pictures are on board to produce it."
Ratliff describes it as "kinda in the vein" of sports comedy classics Slap Shot and North Dallas Forty. A decent original comedy would be a welcome addition to a football flick genre that's been dominated in recent years by melancholy fare like We Are Marshall and Friday Night Lights. Football fans could use something to laugh about on those days when the Oakland Raiders aren't playing.
Next Showing: Joshua opens Friday, July 6th
