The Strangers, a surprise indie horror hit about a couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) terrorized in a remote house by masked, well, strangers, is getting a sequel.
Strangers writer/director Bryan Bertino will write the script, with French newcomer Laurent Briet helming the movie. The story of the sequel is being kept secret, but one can only guess that masks, strangers, and terror will be involved. A cast has not yet been named, though shooting begins this fall.

This summer's blockbuster reboot The Incredible Hulk, featuring Edward Norton in the title role of the gamma-ray enhanced superhero, leads this week's crop of new DVD releases. Pick up the 3-Disc Special Edition and enjoy a plethora of special features, including the much-discussed alternate opening in which a tiny glimpse of Captain America is said to be revealed.
Also debuting on DVD today: Bryan Bertino's super-scary home-invasion flick The Strangers, available in both standard and unrated editions; Ben Stein's Darwinian documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed; and new Blu-ray editions of Sweeney Todd and Casino Royale.
Our DVD pick of the week is the two-volume James Bond Blu-ray Collection, featuring six classic 007 flicks, Dr. No, Thunderball, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia with Love, and Die Another Day, available for the first time in high definition. It's the perfect way to bone up on Bond in preparation for the November 14 debut of Quantum of Solace.
Each of the six new Blu-ray Bond titles will be available for individual purchase as well, with a free movie ticket for Quantum of Solace thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Up for a little unholy fun after the family-friendly Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Spacemen?
We first got a look at The Strangers way back in July of 2007 at Comic-Con and it kind of took us by surprise. We see an awful lot of horror movies here at ReelzChannel.com and very few are anything more than generic copycats of the latest horror trend. But The Strangers looked like it might have some potential to deliver legitimate, old-time scares instead of the torture porn bloodlust that has gotten so popular recently.
After endless delays, The Strangers finally hits screens today. So does it live up to the ultra-creepy trailer that first got fans pumped? Thomas Leupp has the full Strangers review to help you make your weekend viewing decision.

Home-invasion horror flicks seem to be all the rage these days, with recent movies like Vacancy, 1408 and the upcoming Funny Games all earning their scares by tapping into that seemingly universal fear of being trapped in a house and terrorized by psychotic strangers.
The latest offering, appropriately enough, is Bryan Bertino's long-delayed The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a young couple who fall prey to three unkown assailants while staying at a vacation home. After lingering in limbo for far too long, the flick finally got a release date: May 30th, 2008.
The teaser trailer for The Strangers debuted today online. Check it out over at Yahoo! Movies.
