The first DVD Tuesday of 2008 is a relatively tame one, with Milla Jovovich's videogame sequel Resident Evil: Extinction leading a pack of new releases that includes the Jason Statham/Jet Li action duel WAR and Jon Voight's controversial Mormon massacre flick September Dawn.
Our pick for this week is the over-the-top action thriller Shoot 'Em Up, starring Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti. Check out our review.

It's NRA week at the Cineplex, with this weekend's two major releases, 3:10 to Yuma and Shoot 'Em Up, both featuring ample amounts of gunplay. Turns out they're both pretty good movies, too -- Yuma is even being touted as the year's first bona fide Oscar contender.
A rundown of our reviews of this weekend's new releases:
3:10 to Yuma
"A modern classic of the genre. From start to end, a breathtakingly captivating piece of cinema in every aspect." [Full Review]
Shoot 'Em Up
"Firmly rooted in the tradition of film noir, with tough guys, deadly bombshells and Raymond Chandler-esque language. Ridiculous, over-the-top, stupid...and still pretty fun."
