Jerry Seinfeld proved there is nothing like an angry bee, with his animated Bee Movie surprising everyone by taking first place at the box office this weekend with $26 million.
It's unusual--to say the least--that a movie will move up to first place during its second weekend, but combine family friendly and good word of mouth and there you have it. Coming in second this week was American Gangster, also in its second week in the box office, with $24.3 million.
The weekend's big opens, Fred Claus and Lions for Lambs, came in third with $19.2 million and fourth with an underwhelming $6.7 million, respectively. The highly reviewed Coen brothers' No Country for Old Men, which opened in limited release, did quite well for itself, opening in 15th place with $1.2 million--a nearly $43,000 per screen average.
