I think they should not use lizard as an enemy. They could further introduce him as a character, to use in spider-man 5. the characters I would like to see in Spidey4 are :
      - Black Cat (with the super soldier serum storyline)
      - Kingpin (almost has to be in it when black cat supersoldierserum are)
      - Chameleon
      - Green Goblin 2 (Harry Osborn)
      - Nick Fury (small role, like in Ironman) -> this all to tie in with the other marvel movies ....

  • Win a Role in the Likely Spider-Man 4 and Help a Good Cause

Spider-ManSpider-Man 4 may not have a director, cast, or start date just yet, but those into planning ahead can go ahead and reserve a first hand look at the flick via Ebay's "Stand Up to Cancer" Auction.

Bidding concludes on September 5th and the current high bid is $5,501.99.

So what does $5 grand or more get you? A visit to the set of Spider-Man 4 if and when the movie is greenlit, a meet and greet with the as-yet-unannounced cast, a walk-on roll in the film, a trip to the New York City premiere, designer outfits for the premiere and a walk on the red carpet. Added to that, you can feel good about contributing to cancer research and probably even score a nice tax deduction.

The auction is tied into the live, commercial free event on ABC, CBS and NBC this Friday, September 5th to benefit the "Stand Up to Cancer" cause featuring live performances, special celebrity appearances and segments exploring the cutting-edge cancer research currently being conducted.

  • Sam Raimi Gives Spider-Man 4 Update

Spider-Man 4It has been a great summer for superhero and comic book movies and we can't help but be reminded of the series that paved the way for the now popular genre, Spider-Man. Information on the fourth installment has been sparse, but we were given a chance to speak to Sam Raimi about his possible role in the much anticipated Spider-Man 4.

Right now, I know Columbia Pictures is definitely making a fourth one, and the writer is writing a screenplay, and I'll definitely be involved as a producer, and I'm very excited that they are going to show me the screenplay, I hope, when they're done. I don't want to be presumptuous and I hope [they] consider me as the director for it.

When asked about the possibility of the cast returning for the film, he had this to say.

Well, that would be the directors choice. Let me see, first, if the project comes my way before I am presumptuous. But I couldn't imagine... if I was involved I would definitely bring the cast back.

Will Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst be back? We will have to wait and see.

  • Spider-Man 4 and 5 Could Be Made Back-to-Back

Goth SpideyIt's been all quiet on the Spider-Man 4 front since director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire reportedly opted to bow out of the franchise after Spider-Man 3. Today, however, the folks at Cinematical are reporting that Zodiac scribe James Vanderbilt has handed in a draft for the fourth chapter of the Webslinger's saga that includes a story arc for a fifth film as well. The studio apparently liked the idea so much that they're contemplating shooting Spider-Man 4 and 5 back-to-back, Lord of the Rings-style.

No story details from the script or its story arc have been leaked as of yet. Let's just hope that they take care to ration their villains so that there are some available for Spider-Man 6. Spidey creator Stan Lee has gone on record saying he'd like to see the Lizard in the next film, while I remain partial to The Rhino -- if only to see a grown man dressed up in a giant rhinoceros suit.

Who would you like to see take on Spidey in the next flick?

  • Former Romantic Rivals to co-star?

Variety is reporting that two of Kirsten Dunst's former romantic pursuers, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire, could be teaming up as co-stars in Jim Sheridan's Brothers.

The news is doubly awkward considering that the two actors often compete for the same roles and it has been long-since known that Gyllenhaal was slated to replace Maguire prior to Spider-Man 2 shooting when Maguire claimed a back injury as a purported salary negotiation tactic. In fact, Gyllenhaal is once-again rumored to be the chief candidate to take over the web-slinging role in Spider-Man 4, a part Maguire has already claimed he has no interest in.

Brothers is a remake of the Danish drama by filmmaker Susanne Bier. The story revolves around two brothers, one sent off to war in Afganistan (Maguire) while the other (Gyllenhaal), the black sheep of the family, cares for his wife and child.

The remake is being penned by David Benoiff. Jim Sheridan (In America, In the Name of the Father, Get Rich or Die Tryin').

No word yet on who will play "The Girl" in Brothers, but maybe Maguire can get his off-set revenge on Gyllenhaal and snag her? Nah, we're still betting on Jake.

  • Stan Lee's choice for Spider-Man 4's villain: The Lizard

Source: marvel.comMarvel Comics living legend Stan Lee has chimed in with his opinion regarding the next installment of the Spider-Man franchise. In an interview with Gerrad Hall of ReelzChannel's Dailies, Lee suggested that The Lizard would be the logical choice as the next villain to take on the webslinger.

According to Marvel lore, The Lizard was once a highly skilled Army surgeon named Curt Connors. Connors, who had lost an arm to a grenade blast while attending to an injured soldier, inadvertently transformed into a reptilian beast after ingesting a formula designed to regenerate his missing limb.

    Dylan Baker played the pre-Lizard Connors in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3.

  • Three more Spider-Man films planned

Undaunted by Spider-Man 3's disappointing $148 million weekend take, Sony is pushing ahead with plans to produce three more Spider-Man movies, BBC News reports.

At this point, it's unclear what Spider-Man fans can expect from the webslinger in the next three films. Having already vanquished all of the franchise's coolest bad guys, Spidey will likely be taking on lower-tier villains like Oldface, The Auditor, Pigeon-Man and Frank.
