Disney/Pixar's latest computer-animated film looks to be the best so far since Ratatouille and the Incredibles. It is a computer-animated science fiction adventure for the whole familiy that centers around a small, happy little trash-compacting robot. The film is about this robot, who is named Wall-E, who is abandoned for 700 years by Earthlings (because of a global disaster). He then inadvertently finds evidence that humans can safely return home. So then he goes an space journey to find the humans and go back to Earth. The story, science fiction factor and Pixar name has already made this my most anticipated animated film of 2008!!

  • Wall-E footage, animation tests and more

Disney/Pixar just finished their presentation for next summer's Wall-E.

It was met with great enthusiasm. Besides the usual exceptional Pixar visuals, the creative design of the characters, including Wall-E, his romantic interest Eve, M-O and Auto, is different and quite intriguing. Where as Fox's Robots took the standard approach to robot animated characters we've seen a million times before, Pixar's creativity shines through in a very original way.

We got to see a pretty extended clip from an early segment of the movie where Wall-E was digging through and compacting garbage at a junkyard.

Finally a ship arrived where it appeared that is future romatic interest was about to be revealed. The film then melted, a playful jab from Pixar at the pre-digital age.

We also saw animation tests of the four characters mentioned above. The sound designer played a number of effects being used in the movie and also revealed the voices and sounds of the four main characters.

All in all, the Wall-E presentation was great. It's directed by Andrew Stanton, who previously helmed Finding Nemo and A Bug's Life. Wall-E comes out next summer and, as of the current status, it appears Pixar is on the right track once again.

Next Showing: Wall-E releases Summer 2008.

  • Pixar Grows Waaaay Up

Pixar's core demographic may skew a little higher than usual come 2009.

According to Variety, Pixar announced their next project, titled Up. The story centers around a 70-year-old man who joins a park ranger in an epic battle against an array of evil villains and monsters.

Peter Doctor (Monsters, Inc.) is set to direct with Pixar regular Bob Peterson on as co-director.

The announcement fills the gap for a full slate of Pixar projects through 2010. Next summer will see the release of Wall-E, about a young robot searching for home sweet home in the vastness of outer space, while 2010 brings the return of Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Co. with Toy Story 3.

Stay Tuned to ReelzChannel for the latest news on all three of these exciting animated projects!
