Review:
High School Musical just about ruined what made the first one so good. The original had a rather "cute" plot, but at least it gave us a good message, fine performances, and catchy music. It was also fast paced so we never got bored with it or ever though about changing the channel. High School Musical 2 in contrast, shows us how slow and confusing things can be when not enough care goes into making it.
I mean, come on. It had great potential, and it did have good music. But it carries way too many plotlines. Like Troy and Sharpay, it's so confusing, She wants Troy, she offers him s scholarship, she wants him to ditch his friends. All this could make a good plot for a seperate movie on it's own, but putting it into a movie that already has a weak plot seems just pointless. Then there's Troy turning into some playboy and dancing around like he doesn't care who's watching him, unfortunately for us.
And then it goes heavy on the drama, with Troy's useless Dad giving him useless advice. Seriously, what's he there for? Anyway, everything starts getting serious, everyone starts crying, and the people who watch it roll their eyes.
High School Musical was so good because it had a sweet spirit, a nice story, and good songs. High School Musical 2 has most of these, and it's enjoyable. But hardly any of it works.
