Ryan Reynolds Talks The Proposal and Deadpool

Poster for The ProposalRyan Reynolds is brimming with excitement over Deadpool, the upcoming movie spin-off for the character he played in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But while the story for Deadpool is worked out, Reynolds has kept busy with the romantic comedy The Proposal.

Reynolds told Parade that the Proposal shoot had its fair share of difficult moments:

You don't normally combine nudity with stunts. But we had a little 'Cirque du Soleil porn'moment where we had to fall on top of each other totally naked. Some essential body part alwayspopped out because you'd see the cameraman going, 'Oh no, we just saw your...' But by hour four,I'd abandoned the fake leaf or whatever the hell they gave me to cover my privates. I was justthrowing caution—and other things—to the wind.

Nudity makes taking a souvenir from the Proposal set more of a challenge than it was for Reynolds on other movies:

I actually took Deadpool's Katana swords with me when I left after filming Wolverine. I checked them in my luggage. And while I was sitting on the plane, I keptwaiting for an air marshal to come on board and ask me what the hell I was thinking with tworegistered Katana swords in a suitcase. But it never happened.

Besides seriously betraying security protocols, Reynolds says that playing Deadpool has other advantages:

I’m into any role in which I getto kick Captain America in the nuts.

Next Showing: The Proposal opens everywhere June 19, 2009.

Casting news: Blonsky's next project and Reynolds to star in Sandra Bullock rom-com

Nikki Blonsky, the zaftig star of Hairspray, has chosen her first post-Tracy-Turnblad role. Blonsky will join Cuba Gooding Jr., Ally Sheedy, Colin Quinn, and Spencer Breslin in Harold, a comedy about a prematurely aging highschooler, written and directed by SNL writer T. Sean Shannon. In it, Blonsky will play Harold's nerdy best friend Rhonda.

In other news, Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder, Smokin' Aces) is getting set to star in the upcoming Sandra Bullock romantic comedy, The Proposal. In it, Bullock will play a woman who has a greencard marriage to her assistant (Reynolds) to keep from being deported to Canada. Irony of ironies: Reyolds is actually Canadian.
