Tuesday, August 26
The shockingly successful romantic comedy What Happens in Vegas, starring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, leads off this week's DVD Tuesday. Also debuting: Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden?, Morgan Spurlock's chronicle of his fruitless search for the world's most infamous fugitive terrorist; Postal, the latest critic-pleaser from German director Uwe Boll; and Josh Hartnett's indie drama August.
Our DVD pick for the week is Redbelt, David Mamet's gritty exploration of the world of mixed martial arts fighting. But don't just take our word for it; Redbelt's also received the endorsement of ReelzChannel's esteemed Leonard Maltin, who'll be featuring it as one of his selections on this week's episode of Secret's Out.

In Redbelt, usually-caustic writer/director David Mamet takes on one man's fight for nobility in the seedy underbelly of LA's Westside mixed martial arts scene. It stars the multitalented Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mike Terry, a jiujitsu instructor who gets sucked unwillingly into the competitive fighting arena.
Is it worth skipping out on this weekend's blockbusters for a dose of Mamet? Read our Redbelt review and find out.

He of the acid tongue, David Mamet, is turning over a new leaf with Redbelt, his ode to the mixed martial arts starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as a jiujitsu instructor forced into the competitive arena against his will.
Turns out the writer/director responsible for such lines as 'Coffee is for closers' is actually a very polite, nice, teddybear of a guy in person, as I discovered during our Redbelt interview. And he's been studying jiujitsu for years.
Read more about what he has to say in my Interview with Redbelt's David Mamet.
