Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married is the story of four couples--Terry and Diane (Perry and Sharon Leal), Patricia and Gavin (Janet Jackson and Malik Yoba), Sheila and Mike (Jill Scott and Richard T. Jones) and Angela and Marcus (Tasha Smith and Michael Jai White) who go away together every year on a couples retreat to re-examine their relationships.  After sitting through all two hours of this movie written by, directed by, and starring Perry, I feel the question at hand isn't "Why did I get married," but rather, "Why does Tyler Perry have a job?" Everything about this movie is cheap, from the bad acting to the terrible writing to the dimestore plot to the awful camera work. The make-up looks like it was done by my 16-month-old niece, you can practically see the greenscreen behind Perry and Leal in an opening driving scene, and there are superfluous items and movements by extras and  that dodge in and out of shots. Oh, and did I mention that it was saccharine an preachy? And still, this movie will almost undoubtedly win the box office this weekend. To which I pose the final question: Isn't there anything better for the urban-marketed movies than this dreck?
