  • Have the Sleestacks Been Abusing HGH?

Will Ferrell alongside a new, big-headed SleestackIt appears the consequences of Major League Baseball's steroid scandal have been more far-reaching than anyone could have anticipated. A recently-released photo of a Land of the Lost sleestack, paired alongside star Will Ferrell for sizing reference, indicates that the craniums of the prehistoric alien species have expanded considerably since we last glimpsed them back in 1977. The growth is especially dramatic when A pre-HGH sleestack, circa 1976compared to Ferrell's head, which is said to hover in the 8+ size range -- downright gargantuan by human standards.

Have the sleestacks been abusing human growth hormone, the same performance-enhancing substance that allegedly caused baseball home-run king Barry Bonds' skull to expand by several cap sizes? The visual evidence alone is enough to trigger speculation.

  • Will Ferrell on Land of the Lost

Will Ferrell in AnchormanAt a recent press day for his upcoming comedy Step Brothers, we were able to persuade Will Ferrell to part with a few details about his highly anticipated adaptation of Land of the Lost.

"I think it's a great blend of paying homage to the show mixed with what I think could be a different genre, this kind of adventure comedy where we really use the adventure to set up the comedy and we're able to comment on these situations that you would love to see characters comment on," Ferrell said.

He also suggested the movie will do appropriate justice to the original show: "I hope we did. [Sid and Marty Kroft] were on set every single day to make sure."

When asked what we can expect in the way of special effects, Ferrell couldn't resist a wisecrack. "We did claymation," he retorted. "Remember Davey and Goliath? The old animated show for kids? And a lot of tinfoil. I would sculpt dinosaur models out of tinfoil. Universal's pissed right now."

  • Meet Chaka

Jorma TacconeChaka (or Cha-ka)Will Ferrell is currently heading into production on a comedic adapation of Land of the Lost, the popular '70s TV show produced by acid-trip children's programming pioneers Sid and Marty Krofft. And while it's been known for some time that Ferrell, Danny McBride and Anna Friel would be playing the parts of protagonists Marshall, Will and Holly, respectively, the burning question on everyone's mind has been: Who'll play Chaka (or Cha-Ka, depending on the translation)?

Well, it looks like we've finally gotten an answer. The folks at JoBlo.com are reporting that Jorma Taccone (Hot Rod) has landed the coveted role of the feisty simian boy befriended by the stranded, time-travelling trio. Congrats Jorma!

  • Will Ferrell/Land of the Lost finally happening

Universal has finally greenlit the Will Ferrell "event comedy" Land of the Lost, which has been floating around the ether (with Ferrell attached) for years.

Despite Ferrell's status as virtual box office gold, word is Universal was a little gun-shy of making another big budget comedy--especially after the lackluster performance of Evan Almighty last summer. But the movie's budget was taken down to a more reasonable (ha) $100 million and shooting was scheduled to start in March.

Brad Silberling (Lemony Snickets: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Moonlight Mile) will direct Land of the Lost, which is indeed an adaptation of Sid and Marty Krofft's well-known children's TV show.
