Just finished it! Very well done and treats both sides of issue with respect, something most current documentary makers don't do. Uses both music. old video clips, and many locations to make a usually boring argument, interesting. Especially rich to watch the 'brilliant' Richard Dawkins try to explain how live probably began somewhere else in the universe and got transplanted here. Problem is how did it happen there. Interesting how he can't believe in the fantasy known as religion, but he can believe in this. And with this 'intelligent' discourse those who agree with him will continue to believe his fairy tale over religion. Believing we came from nothing and will return to nothing means it's ok if I borrow your car for a few years, or you house, or your (fill in the blank) since there is nothing from which morality comes. Lots of luck with that worldview.

I saw this movie today. Great! It makes you think. Now so-called progressives don't want to talk about the Creator. The movie is about these very people, it highlight s the fact that they can't give you an answer about Creation. Ben calls us to think about it, to argue and talk about it. Great movie

Why does it seem the debate about ID and Evolution is always about God? I think the movie 'Expelled' does a pretty good job at showing this underlying issue over God. A Harris 2003 poll found that 90% of the people polled believe in God. 90% of those people who had college degrees and 85% who had post-grad degrees believe in God. Obviously, there are those in Academia who believe in God. If there is no discussion about God in the origins of man, then how honest are these discussions? Sir Isaac Newton, debatably the greatest scientific mind of all time, was a creationist. A quote from Newton in Des MacHale, Wisdom (London, 2002) stated ‘In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of God's existence.’ Also, a really great quote from Albert Einstein in Reader’s Digest, Nov. 1973 is ‘Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind.’ If Richard Dawkins can believe that an alien race could have seeded our planet as he stated in ‘Expelled,’ can still be credible, why not ID? ID is not about God, but about systems that do not necessarily fit the model ascribed to by Darwinian theory. We all want to know truth. Thank-you Ben for reminding us that faith not only does not hinder science, it makes science more exciting. Also, that what we believe about ourselves may have an impact on how we live out our lives.

Expelled will die a swift death. $500,000 the first weekend, then pulled from all but a handful of screens by the second week.

Pulled from all but a handfull of screens? why? People aren't turning up to watch for the same reason the scientists who have actually had the courage to put a conclusion to the darwinian hypothesis are suffering - they are afraid of being '***ociated' with the believers just by curiosity; so it's fear that keeps the people away not the documentary itself, which is well done and entertaining. I imagine that secretly everyone wants to see it, even or rather especially, its most vocal detractors. But fear, especially of something that may shake the foundation upon which one basis one's ideas of intellect, belonging, etc., always makes those who perhaps suddenly find themselves on shaky ground (or belief) by admitting they may be wrong or only partly right - fear always causes those to want to hide that which reminds them of their tenous position. Those with courage have nothing to hide. And fear no debate.

I am dying to see this documentary but can't seem to find a theater that will be premiering it here in Maine.
