Clive Owen is an Interpol Agent and Naomi Watts is a Manhattan District Attorney taking on the illegal activities of one of the world's most powerful banks in this political thriller from director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, Perfume). The International is standard political-intrigue fare, featuring a constantly shifting plotline that requires constant attention to make heads or tails of the convoluted storyline. Many viewers will find themselves left in the dust. The movie does offer a breathtaking action sequence staged at Manhattan's Guggenheim Museum that's reminiscent of Heat's fabled street-shootout sequence. International's Guggenheim bit is relentless and highly impressive. Sadly, it amounts to only about 15 minutes within a film that is otherwise slowgoing and easily forgotten.
