Jim Carrey returns to his slapstick origins in this silly tale of a man who decides to change his life by saying "Yes" to any and every opportunity that comes his way. This includes offers such as attending his boss' Harry Potter-themed party, getting a blow job from the lonely old lady next door, and ordering a mail-order bride. On the more positive side, he also meets the spontaneous and exciting Allison and falls into a romance unlike anything he's ever experienced. Directed by Peyton Reed (The Break-Up), Yes Man isn't particularly original (in many ways it's only a slight twist on the same plotline of Carrey's Liar Liar), but Jim Carrey is still the master of physical comedy. Unfortunately, Yes Man does try to take itself a little too seriously at points, sadly missing out on the pure stupid joy of Carrey comedies from the past such as Dumb and Dumber and Me, Myself & Irene. Even so, it's enjoyable enough popcorn fare -- fun to watch and completely forgettable. It's plenty likable, but probably best to save your cash and rent this one in a few months.
