Jeremy Piven has dropped out of Igor, The Weinstein Company's animated monster movie about a hunchbacked lab assistant who plots to win the annual Evil Science Fair.
He was to join John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jennifer Coolidge, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno, Molly Shannon and Sean Hayes, all of whom are lending their voices to the project. In his place, hysterical British transvestite comic Eddie Izzard (My Super Ex-Girlfriend, The Riches) will be taking over the role of Igor's nemesis, the mad scientist Schaudenfreude, and we can't think of a better choice.
Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding, Georgia Rule) will be joining Greg Kinnear in Flash of Genius, a drama about a man whose invention of the intermittent windshield wiper was stolen by the Detroit automakers. The movie, which is currently filming in Toronto, is the feature writing/directing debut of producer Marc Abraham (The Family Man, Children of Men).
Another casting score for The Incredible Hulk: talented character actor Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Good Girl) will play Hulk antagonist Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader.
...And sultry Gael Garcia Bernal will be starring in Pedro Paramo, a Spanish film adapted from Juan Rulfo's landmark 1955 Latin American novel about a journey to a dustbowl ghost village. It will be directed by Mateo Gil (Vanilla Sky) and have art and makeup direction from the same team that won Oscars for Pan's Labyrinth.
