It's kind of exciting when all the things from one's youth suddenly become repopularized in that retro manner and start making their way in the form of adaptations to the big screen.
Next up under this rubric is Fraggle Rock, HBO's wildly popular children's show of the mid-'80s about a handful of adorable creatures who live in caves accessed via a hole in an inventor's workshop. The fraggles were muppets created by none other than puppet-god Jim Henson.
According to Variety, The Weinstein Company has announced plans to bring Gobo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red to the silver screen in the form of a live action musical, with (as in the original series) a mixture of humans and fraggles. The Jim Henson Company will produce.
