Two of this summer's biggest box-office flops, theWachowski Brothers' trippy update of Speed Racer and MikeMyers' disastrously ill-advised comedy The Love Guru, headline this week's DVD Tuesday. Also debuting today: the romantic comedy Madeof Honor, featuring a Michelle Monaghan and a kilt-wearing Dr.McDreamy; Young@Heart, the acclaimed documentary about agroup of senior citizens who sing cotemporary rock songs; and Special Editionre-releases of Risky Business, Weird Science, and Beetlejuice.
Our DVD pick for the week is 88 Minutes, starring Al Pacino as a blustery forensic psychiatrist haunted by one of thekillers he put away. Check out its alternate ending and see if it improves onthe (somewhat lame) original.

After being handed a thorough critical beatdown and feeling the painful sting of audience indifference, the Wachowski Siblings' beleaguered anime epic Speed Racer suffered yet another indignity today -- courtesy of those loveable activists at PETA. The L.A. Times reports that the animal rights group's German arm (the movie was shot in Berlin) has accused Speed Racer's animal trainer of chimpanzee abuse, alleging that a representative of the American Humane Association witnessed an incident in which the poor primate that played Chim Chim was smacked upside the head after biting one of the actors.
The outcry over chimpanzee abuse comes as no surprise. Anyone who's seen the popular West German TV show "Sprockets" knows that Germans love their monkeys.

Comic book flick Iron Man continued its blockbuster run over the weekend, easily claiming the top spot at the box office with a tally of over $50 million. The Wachowski siblings' anime epic Speed Racer sputtered badly in its first week in release, earning just over $20.2 million and barely edging out the poorly-reviewed Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz rom-com What Happens in Vegas for second place. Rounding out the top five were the Patrick Dempsey rom-com Made of Honor and Tina Fey's odd couple comedy Baby Mama, which earned $7.6 million and $5.8 million, respectively.

Fan interest in Speed Racer seemed high a few months back, but its been dwindling heading up to today's release. Critical reaction has been extremely poor with 129 critics on Rotten Tomatoes scoring the expensive blockbuster a lowly 35 percent.
This weekend Iron Man looks to be the flick of choice once again. Fans who didn't check it out last week will likely pick it over Speed Racer and some may even choose a second viewing of the Marvel superhero flick over a first viewing of the kiddie racing pic.
Early box office analysis has Iron Man predicted to bring in just under $50 million this weekend while Racer is looking at a take in the low $30's. We'll have the full report on Monday.
