The Twilight Saga: New Moon took over MySpace today, with the release of new clips, images, and music videos.
The featurette is all about the Volturi — Italy's ancient and powerful vampire coven. Robert Pattinson plays with his hair, Kristen Stewart says very little as always, and genius Stephenie Meyer even sits down for a quick chat. The most exciting parts of the featurette are the new Volturi footage and a behind-the-scenes look at the end fight. It's all clever stunt work and wires which, unlike with Twilight, will hopefully be successfully edited out of the shot.
Also new today is a slightly different TV spot ("Never Hurt You"), a new image showing Kristen Stewart with director Chris Weitz, and a music video from Anya Marina, whose song "Satellite Heart" is featured on the movie's soundtrack. Look out for some movie clips in this one — if you stay awake long enough, that is.

Twilight got four nods at last week's Spike TV Scream 2009 Awards, including "Best Fantasy Movie," making it the most successful movie of the night. "Best Breakout Performance" went to Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won the "Best Fantasy Male/Female Actor" awards.
The awards don't air until tonight at 10PM ET on Spike TV, but the following video offers an advance look at Taylor Lautner accepting the Best Fantasy Movie award. In addition, tonight's show promises to include more world-premiere footage from New Moon, which is teased in the clip.

UK magazine Total Film has a new interview with Twilight Saga star Robert Pattinson, about all things New Moon.
On the subject of director Chris Weitz, the British heartthrob was only too eager to compliment his work, saying:
I really love Chris. Not only is he a good director, he's a great guy. God, I sound like such an arse-kisser! But he actually is. He didn't really try and change anything. He saw what me and Kristen were doing and worked within the realms of that."
When asked about Edward's story arc in New Moon, Pattinson came up with a serious answer, showing that he understands the character more than a lot of people give him credit for.
He's always talking in the first one. "I need to make the right decision. I need to do stuff for you, for you, for you." And he makes a decisive move, which is to leave her, and he completely believes it's for her own good. But in his heart, he obviously realises it's completely wrong. And it takes him the whole movie to realise the profundity of his mistake. So that's what his arc is. The world forces him to realise he needs to be with Bella, and there's no way around it.
We're betting thousands of Twilighters swooned after reading those words, before running to watch their Twilight DVD for the hundredth time. Can Pattinson do no wrong? We can't wait to see if loyalties will change after fans finally see New Moon — will Team Jacob take over? Or will Team Edward keep hold of the majority vote? We'll find out in November.

Not content with dominating the teenage market, Stephenie Meyer, author of The Twilight Saga, has sold movie rights to her first adult novel, The Host.
The rights were bought by producers Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz, and Paula Mae Schwartz. Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) is set to write the script, as well as take on directorial duties.
Published in May 2008, The Host is the first book in a proposed trilogy, and features what is possibly the first love triangle involving only two bodies. It's part sci-fi, part romance, and follows the life of Melanie Stryder — a human girl who becomes a host for a parasitic soul called Wanderer. The Host was one of the biggest selling books of 2008, which bodes well for a successful movie adaptation. Some parts could be tricky to explain, but we're sure Meyer fans won't care about that. If they can overlook werewolves that suddenly turn into shapeshifters, or a 107-year-old vampire capable of reproducing, then some sci-fi complications should be a walk in the park.

When it came time to bring Twilight to the big screen, Catherine Hardwicke and her crew couldn't use Forks — the picturesque town in Washington State, with a population of just over 3,000, lacked the housing and infrastructure for a film crew.
So, as any devout Twilight fan knows, Hardwicke and co. headed to Portland, Oregon, and surrounding towns for the filming. And in their wake, so have fans looking to get an up-close look at Bella and Edward's movie world.
Because not everyone can make the trip to Oregon — and because we fear the entire state lacks the housing and infrastructure for the sheer numbers that are the Twilight fanbase — we've put together a video tour of the movie's locales.

Cinema Blend reports that Catherine Hardwicke, best-known as the director of Twilight, has signed on to direct The Girl With the Red Riding Hood. This retelling of the classic children's story will apparently have a more gothic feel. The title character will also be a teenager involved in a love triangle. The biggest change of all, though: it has a werewolf.
The movie has a writer, David Johnson, but no other cast or crew and no release date. It's also unclear when the project will underway, since Hardwicke has several other movies on her plate already. These include Maximum Ride, which tells the story of six children with genetically engineered wings, and her adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, starring Emile Hirsch.

After the success of TwiCon, Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment have teamed up to produce a tour of official Twilight fan conventions, which will run over the next three years.
In a public statement, Summit and Creation outlined the convention plans, which are set to include photo ops, guest talks, and autograph signings:
The Official Twilight Fan Conventions will offer attendees the unique opportunity to involve themselves in all aspects of The Twilight Saga. The weekend gatherings will feature on-stage appearances by Twilight celebrities, exclusive footage screenings, panel discussions, Twilight themed parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions, auctions, autographing, merchandising, and photo opportunities.
Erin Ferries, VP of Creation Entertainment, said:
It is a delight to be involved with the tremendous excitement that surrounds The Twilight saga. The fans are incredibly knowledgeable about the property and have used the story as a springboard for their own creativity. The Official Twilight Fan Conventions will allow attendees the chance to show off their Twilight inspired artwork, writing, costumes, filmmaking, and music with thousands of their fellow fans. While the conventions will offer fans the chance to cheer for their favorite actors they are equally about gathering with like-minded folks and forming friendships based on a common devotion. We can't wait to bring some of the magic of Twilight live to cities around the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom!
It's about time Summit jumped on the convention bandwagon — it's better late than never.

In an interview with MTV, Pandorum producer Paul W.S. Anderson addressed comparisons between his upcoming deep-space horror flick and the granddaddy of them all, Alien.
It's a very scary movie set in space and there are creatures in it. It introduces an unexpected terror to the audience. Any buzz floating around that this is a bit like Alien, I take as a huge compliment.
It is not just "some Alien knock-off" though, he insists. For one thing, the monsters, at least from what we have seen of them in the trailers, are a bit more Nosferatu. Then there's that whole weird skin-peeling thing. And as far as plot is concerned, an element of mystery is added with the missing crew.
On top of all that though, he reveals that there is a nude scene with Twilight star Cam Gigandet:
For fans of Twilight, there's a scene where Cam's completely naked. He's covered in blood, of course. There's more Cam nudity in this than there is in Twilight! There's this great scene where Dennis finds Cam and he's naked and covered in blood and Dennis covers him up and he says to Cam, "Is that your blood, Corporal?" and Cam says, "Some of it," and of course the question is, "Whose blood is it?"
Given what happens to his character James at the end of Twilight, it seems rather unlikely that Twilight fans will be put off from seeing Cam that way, no matter whose blood it is or how much there is of it.

Twilight Beauty, a new cosmetics brand themed after the The Twilight Saga (maybe you've heard of it?), will launch two lines this fall in coordination with the release of New Moon on November 20: Luna Twilight and Volturi Twilight. According to the press release:
Luna Twilight reflects the mood and spirit of the saga's iconic female characters, presenting a collection that creates a harmonious blend between soft, natural beauty and stunning, fierce splendor. Notable products from the Luna Twilight line include First Light Body and Face Glow for radiant illumination and Gleam Metallic Mascara for captivating lashes.
Volturi Twilight offers entry into Twilight's exclusive coven through use of the Volturi family crest as the brand's logo. The line features Foreshadow Primer, an ultra-sheer eye base that provides the ultimate prep for a smoother, crease-proof eye shadow application that is coupled with loose glitter dust, called Labrynth Shadows. The highly pigmented loose powder shadows and the lid primer are housed in stackable pots, providing the ability to mix and match the colors to create personal, one-of-a-kind eye shadow favorites.
We're totally not making this up!
Luna Twilight will be available September 15, 2009, at Dillard's and Nordstrom. Volturi Twilight will be available September 15, 2009, through specialty retailers. Both lines will be sold at TwilightBeauty.com, which appears to be a work in progress.
