Actress Olivia Wilde has been padding her resume with a wide variety of projects lately, from the popular TV drama House to the horror film Turistas to the slapstick period comedy Year One. Not only are her projects disparate in genre and tone, but in production size. Wilde's latest film, Fix, in which she co-stars with her real-life husband, actor-director Tao Ruspoli, was shot in only 18 days using a single camera. In contrast, Wilde recently acted alongside Jeff Bridges in Disney's upcoming Tron: Legacy, a movie that required several camera units, not to mention untold hours of computer graphics work.
In a recent interview with Moviefone, Wilde discussed working on a movie as close to home as Fix, which was inspired by an actual day in the lives of her husband and his brother, a heroin addict.
It was the closest I've ever been to material because I knew the day it was based on and knew the person so well, but I feel that we responsibly represented that real day and that real person. It has been really interesting to go around the world and have these audiences respond so much to the idea of addiction within the family and trying to force someone you love to do something that they may not want to do. It's a universal theme, even though it was a very personal story.
Unfortunately, while Wilde did discuss performing stunts and wearing "rubber suits" in Tron: Legacy in a prior interview, she did not offer much additional insight into the highly-anticipated sequel.
[Tron: Legacy was] amazing. Very different from Fix! There's such a cone of silence around Tron, but it'll be fun to watch. That was also an amazing honor, to be able to carry on a legacy like Tron. I don't think diehard fans will be disappointed. I think they will be very happy with what we did. There's a real story. It's going to look cool, but that's not all [there is to it].

| Title | Weekend | Total | Analysis |
| The Proposal | $34.1M | $34.1M | Chick flick prevents dude movie The Hangover from three-peat. |
| The Hangover | $26.9M | $152.9M | Movie cost just $35M to make. |
| Up | $21.3M | $224.1M | Will likely pass Star Trek next week as year's biggest box-office draw. |
| Year One | $20.2M | $20.2M | Opens in same, dismal ballpark as disappointing Land of the Lost. Remember that movie? |
| The Taking of Pelham 123 | $11.3M | $43.3M | 123 #5 in second week and fading fast. |
Bomb of the Week: A fourth-place finish for the widely released Year One makes it this week's BotW, but on a much-less destructive scale than Imagine That. This week's anti-bomb is Woody Allen's Whatever Works, which averaged an astounding $31K per screen in spite of lukewarm reviews.

The trailer for Zombieland premieres today before showings of Year One, which, considering Year One's early reviews, could be a bad thing for the horror comedy starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone.
The trailer is already available online, and while it looks terrific, it features none of the rumored cameos from Bill Murray and, possibly, Matthew McConaughey. Zombieland make-up artist Tony Gardner started the McConaughey rumor months ago by telling MTV: "I think Matthew McConaughey has a cameo."
McConaughey's publicist denied it, saying, "[We do not know] anything about this project. Nor do we know anything about his involvement in a project such as the one you mentioned.” Abigail Breslin was suspiciously curt on whether the Texan surfer will show up: "Oh...I...yeah. I can't say. You have to wait and see it."
October 9 is a long ways off, Abigail. Until then, enjoy Zombieland's first official, and McConaughey-less, trailer:

The Bad News: Year One is drawing comparisons to Land of the Lost. (That might actually be considered really bad news.)
The Good News: If Year One is in fact a bomb, Michael Cera could be humbled enough to reconsider his A-lister attitude towards the Arrested Development movie.
"...a dreary experience..."
— Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
"...has a handful of chuckles, but it's also harmless and scattershot, without much primitive bite."
— Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
"...the script ... is strictly bargain basement, offering a plethora of poop, sex and fart jokes and vulgarity without a smidgen of wit."
— Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter
"...lacks seismic guffaws but elicits many mild smiles."
— Ronnie Scheib, Variety

This morning, Jack Black and Michael Cera were on the CBS Early Show to promote Year One, which will be in theaters Friday.
When asked about the plot, Black made good on his well-known arsenal of musical trivia and referenced a few notes from a Genesis song (get it? Genesis ... movie about prehistoric times?). He then likened the Harold Ramis-directed comedy to another well-known comedy from 30 years ago:
So we're cavemen ... prehistoric dudes, and we're just sort of wandering through Biblical times. A lot like, you know, one of the old Biblical comedies like Life of Brian, in that flavor.
It would probably be foolish to expect Year One to deliver the same level of hilarity as the 1979 movie. That's a tough act to follow. On the other hand, we have to admit that the costumes and set design look very similar.
Compare the two trailers to see what we mean:

Sony Pictures recently released this hilarious new movie trailer from the upcoming Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day) film, Year One. The film stars Jack Black (Nacho Libre) and Michael Cera (Superbad) as two lazy hunter-gatherers who get banished from their village and set about on an epic quest.
Year One also stars Olivia Wilde (Turistas), Paul Rudd (Role Models) and David Cross (Arrested Development).

The newest TV trailer for Year One may not offer tons of new footage, but it does show that the comedic tone of the movie may be more than just "boy, life sure was different back then." It also features an effective use of "The Blue Danube." Johann Strauss II has still got it. Check it out below:

The prequel-slash-origin-story silliness continues. MTV reports that this August, Boom! Studios will release a comic book prequel to the 1988 action classic Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis.
What's it called? Die Hard: Year One, of course. Not to be confused with Batman: Year One, or Year One starring Jack Black and Michael Cera. (They're not very creative with titles either, are they?)
The only plot detail available is that the story follows a younger John McClane who must deal with a crisis during the 1976 Bicentennial celebrations. We're wondering if they couldn't just drop footage of McClane into Robert Altman's Nashville and get the movie adaptation over with.
