X-Men Origins: Wolverine producer Lauren Shuler Donner has said that Deadpool will be rebooted and go back "to the Deadpool in the comics" for the Deadpool spin-off of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but that hasn't made creating the movie any easier. " It's the hardest story to tell, I think," Shuler Donner told Empire. "There's no clear-cut villain." Shuler Donner says they are "figuring out which [stories] to incorporate" while actively hunting for a screenwriter.
We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff. Ryan [Reynolds]'s mentioned this in an interview already but there are parts where he's going to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the audience in the cinema. We have to work out how to do that. I don't know that Fox will agree with all our decisions, but we'll see!
No matter what, Shuler Donner thinks Deadpool is "going to be a dark, snarky, very funny movie."

Ryan Reynolds' screen time in X-Men Origins: Wolverine may have been brief, but it was effective enough to get a Deadpool movie spin-off in the works.
For those without the DVD, Trailer Addict has posted the bonus featurette in which Reynolds discusses the character. Interwoven thoughout is nearly all the Deadpool footage from the movie, including the Easter egg post-credits ending that played in select theaters.

Welcome back, prodigal son.
During a talk at South Korea's Pusan International Film Festival, X-Men and director Bryan Singer revealed that he is looking to return to the franchise he helped create.
I'm still looking to possibly returning to the X-Men franchise. I've been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast.
Singer was set to direct X-Men: The Last Stand, but left the project to direct Superman Returns, a move Singer admitted he later regretted. Singer said he would like to return to the X-Men because of the social statements he is allowed to make while working in the world of the mutant outcasts.
The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is — the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition. [I like to] trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say.
With Singer negotiating with Fox, the only question remains, which X-Men movie will Singer direct? There's plenty of choices with X-Men: First Class, Deadpool, X-Men Origins: Magneto, Wolverine 2, and possibly even X-Men 4 to choose from. Singer has admitted that Magneto's concentration camp background was probably a no-go, and has been considering directing First Class since August.
While a return for X-Men 4 makes logical sense, there's also the possibility of Wolverine 2, which is currently being written by Singer pal and The Usual Suspects screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. Gavin Hood directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but, Hood told ITN, is not signed on to direct the sequel.
I think there is a very good chance that another Wolverine movie would be made. Whether I am the director or somebody else is, and whether I'll be available, and whether they'll want me. Nothing has been decided at this point.
No matter what movie Singer ends up directing, X-Men fans have to be celebrating.

Ryan Reynolds appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where he publicly confirmed that he will appear as both Deadpool and Green Lantern. While Fallon found the castings a "double whammy," Reynolds was more modest.
At his point [playing both roles] makes you just like an Internet hero, nothing really more than that.
Reynolds also mentioned he was "4-5 months away from beginning shooting" Green Lantern, but couldn't tell Fallon much more than that.
It's crazy, it's the only job I've ever had that I'm not allowed to really talk about. I think there's like a representative from Warner Brothers who I'm sure is following me around ready to blow-dart me if I say a single word,. I probably have a chip in me somewhere, like if I start talking about it, I'll just pass away.
Since Fallon had no idea what Green Lantern's powers were, Reynolds did offer him a basic understanding.
A lot of [the film] is sort of like a space epic and some of it is on planet Earth. [Green Lantern] has this ring and he's been chosen to have this power and the ring can kind of create anything that his will or his imagination can conjure up.
While Reynolds' explanation is pretty basic, he has been doing his homework. Late Night producer Mike Shoemaker Tweeted to Green Lantern comic book writer Geoff Johns that he made Reynolds deliver the Green Lantern oath.
I just went in Ryan Reynolds' dressing [room] and tested him on the GL oath. He nailed it!

X-Men Origins: Magneto, Wolverine 2, Deadpool, and X-Men: First Class are all upcoming X-Men movies in the works, but producer Lauren Shuler Donner has said she wasn't sure which one was going to made first. Xmenfilms.net reported that First Class may be the next movie to start production when they discovered what X-Men Origins: Wolverine's Tim Pocock said on his Twitter page:
currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010...then X-men first class ;)
Pocock played the young Cyclops in Wolverine, which ended with him and a group of other mutants meeting with Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) for the first time. First Class follows the professor's first group of students, and Shuler Donner has said she hopes the movie "will become its own franchise." With a script by The O.C.'s Josh Schwarz, and a desire to be 'tween friendly, it's no wonder that First Class would be the next X-Men movie to begin production.

At a promotional event for the Blu-Ray release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, producer Lauren Shuler Donner gave out a few details regarding other X-Men-related movies. Donner has quite a few or them on her plate, including Wolverine 2, Deadpool, X-Men: First Class, and possibly, Donner told IGN, another X-Men:
I think there are some wonderful storylines I'd like to pursue in X-Men 4 and 5, but who knows? Obviously Fox is my partner, so we're in discussions about what will be next
As forDeadpool, Shuler sees that spin-off as a reboot, disregarding what happened to the character in Wolverine and instead making "it the Deadpool that's in the comics." Ryan Reynolds is set to play Deadpool again, even after Reynolds was cast in Green Lantern, but Shuler sees no problem with Reynolds playing both roles:
Not on my end, personally, not on my end, no. I think you can do different characters. We've had different Bonds right, and I think if Harrison Ford can be in Indiana Jones and he can be in the Tom Clancy movies, I think if you are a good actor you become the character and it's alright.
With X-Men: First Class, Donner would only say that the movie will concern "the X-Men's first class," set " way back when," implying that it would star Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Angel, and Jean Grey, the first X-Men class in the comics, though Donner would not reveal which characters will be included. Bryan Singer has been mentioned as a likely director for First Class, to which Donner would only admit that "there's a possibility" and that Singer would not be too busy with other projects.
Donner also said Gavin Hood may return to direct Wolverine 2, and that her husband, Richard Donner, director of Superman and Superman II, could return to the comic book world one day:
He kind of feels like he did, he was very helpful, as you know he came and helped me on [Wolverine] but, look, I would never rule anything out but I don't know. He might, he might go back into the comic world, he might.
Whatever X-Men movie is next to go into production, shooting will begin next year.

With Green Lantern possibly changing its Australian shoot, SlashFilm is now reporting that Warner Bros. may move the production to New Orleans. A source claims that Green Lantern is "scouting in Louisiana" and will likely shoot in and around New Orleans next year. That is, unless Warner Bros. can broker a deal with the Australian government.
The Sydney-based Fox Studios was initially chosen for the $150-million Green Lantern due to the exchange rate benefits that the sagging Australian dollar provided. However, the recent 11 percent rise in the value of the Australian dollar will leave Warner Bros. looking at a $25-million increase in their budget. The studio is currently looking for concessions from the Australian government in order to keep the production in Sydney.
Fans are less concerned with the economics of Green Lantern and are instead wondering how it will be having Ryan Reynolds play both Green Lantern and Deadpool, as evidenced in this fan-made video.

Bryan Singer may be setting himself up to direct both a Battlestar Galatica and an Excalibur remake, but Variety reports that Singer is also "flirting with directing" X-Men: First Class, the spin-off written by The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz that would follow the adventures of a teenage incarnation of the X-Men team.
Singer has admitted that he regrets leaving X-Men: The Last Stand and has even mentioned interest in directing X-Men Origins:Magneto, though he cited Magneto's Nazi back story as a possible deal breaker, considering the amount of Nazi-related movies on Singer's resume already. That may be the reason Singer is turning his attention to First Class.
X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has said, "Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan on for another [X-Men] movie," and considering the amount of movies being lined up, like Deadpool and possibly a Gambit movie, there should be another X-Men project for Singer should he pass on X-Men: First Class."
And despite all those other projects in the works, Singer's next feature may end up being Jack the Giant Killer, a riff on Jack and the Beanstalk about a boy who travels to the land of giants to rescue a princess.

When Ryan Reynolds was cast as the Green Lantern, with an X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off for his character of Deadpool already in the works, Reynolds became the first actor not only to play two superheroes but also the first to play a hero from both Marvel and DC comics. In an article discovered by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and posted on his Twitter feed, Reynolds told Entertainment Weekly he sees no problem with the casting:
There's no rule that says you can't play two different characters in two different comic book universes.
Checking the comic-adaptation rule book verifies that Reynold's statement is true. Reynolds may not be done, either. In 2005, Reynolds was cast as The Flash before that project fell apart. Reynolds still sounds interested:
There's so many interesting comic book characters out there, I would love to do others.
If Reynolds does end up playing The Flash as well as Green Lantern, it would make a Justice League movie very Reynolds-centric. Fan art has provided a first-look of Reynolds as the Green Lantern and The Flash. Look back and forth to see what a scene between scene between Reynolds and Reynolds would look like.

In the comic books, Deadpool, Marvel's proclaimed "Merc with a Mouth," has two different voices in his head that remind him he's inside a comic book. When it comes to the movie adaptation, Ryan Reynolds sees every reason to continue breaking the fourth wall between the character and the audience. Reynolds told Empire:
Break the fourth wall? Oh yeah, he's got to. I want to see him break the Great Wall.
Reynolds is not feeling much pressure from fanboys either, regardless of the intense amount of excitement over the Deadpool movie:
I'm one of them. I've always been a fan, at least for the last eight or nine years. I feel a bit of validation because I knew going into Wolverine that there's a huge fanbase for this and I don't think anyone else did.
Fans have little reason to feel nervous. Reynolds has said that he, as well as the studio, want to stay as close to the source material as possible. Not only that, but Reynolds is also hoping for Deadpool to "kick Captain America in the nuts." That should make for one interesting movie.
