  • PNY Offers Ghostbusters Bonus on Flash Drive

Ghostbusters DVD CoverNow techo-geeks can store all their documents, photos, and adult content right alongside '80s favorite Ghostbusters courtesy of the new 2GB flash drive from PNY. The tech company has struck a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment, and the classic flick with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis will be the first movie released on the new format.

Unlike other files stored on your flash drive, don't expect to be able to pop the drive into your friends' computers and drop a copy of Ghostbusters onto their machines. These movies will be protected and can only be played with the drive plugged in.

Insert lame keymaster/gatekeeper joke here: ___________.

  • No End in Sight for Twilight

Twilight Cliffhanger Don't mess with a vampire -- or his author. Stephenie Meyer has stopped work on Midnight Sun, the fifth and final installment of her Twilight series. She decided to put the book on hold after a partial draft was released on the Internet. Meyer handed out only a few drafts of the book -- all to what she believed to be trusted sources.

"I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited, and published," the author stated on her site. "I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being."

So while fans may never know how Meyer intended to end the saga, she has posted the leaked draft on her site, offering fans "insight into Edward's head and...a new dimension to the Twilight story." No insight, yet, on how this development might affect Twilight movie sequels.

  • G.I. Joe Director to Tackle Tarzan?

TarzanStephen Sommers is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct a new big-screen adaptation of everyone's favorite vine swinger, Tarzan.

The director, best known for his Mummy series, recently wrapped production on next summer's highly anticipated G.I. Joe. If all goes according to plan, Sommers would co-write the Tarzan script with G.I. Joe scribe Stuart Beattie.

The project has been in development at WB since 2003 with Guillermo Del Toro in talks to direct at one point.

Tarzan was last seen on the silver screen in 1984's Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan.

  • New Court Date Means Watchmen Moves Forward as Planned

WatchmenFans of the upcoming Watchmen flick received a welcome shot in the arm yesterday when the federal judge presiding over the ongoing legal battle over the film's rights set a trial date of January 6, 2009. Fox, the studio seeking to halt Warner Bros.' big-budget adaptation of Alan Moore's landmark graphic novel, had reportedly been seeking a June trial -- well after the film's scheduled March 6, 2009 release date -- in the hopes of forcing Warners to delay Watchmen's premiere indefinitely.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, presiding Judge Gary Alan Feess also instructed that Fox should "forgo any attempt to get a preliminary injunction against Warners to stop the release of the film because the issues were far too complex to be resolved on an interim basis."

Roughly translated: All signs point to Watchmen opening as planned on March 6, 2009. Fanboys, you are now free to resume quivering in giddy anticipation.

  • Mark Millar Really, Really Wants the Superman Gig

This looks like a job for...When the folks at Warner Bros. begin searching for a writer for the studio's planned Superman franchise reboot, they need look no further than Mark Millar. In a recent interview with G4, the Scottish-bred author of Wanted and Kick-Ass resumed his lobbying for the Man of Steel gig, laying out his ambitious plans for an epic, seven-hour trilogy in the style of Lord of the Rings. (Turns out you can do a proper trilogy in less than nine hours if you don't have a dozen endings. Who knew?)

What makes him the right guy for the job? Among other impressive Supes fanboy credentials, Millar bragged to G4 that he'd purchased the corpse of the cat saved by Christopher Reeve in the first Superman flick, had it stuffed and mounted it atop his piano. Impressive. Creepy, but impressive.

  • Win a Role in the Likely Spider-Man 4 and Help a Good Cause

Spider-ManSpider-Man 4 may not have a director, cast, or start date just yet, but those into planning ahead can go ahead and reserve a first hand look at the flick via Ebay's "Stand Up to Cancer" Auction.

Bidding concludes on September 5th and the current high bid is $5,501.99.

So what does $5 grand or more get you? A visit to the set of Spider-Man 4 if and when the movie is greenlit, a meet and greet with the as-yet-unannounced cast, a walk-on roll in the film, a trip to the New York City premiere, designer outfits for the premiere and a walk on the red carpet. Added to that, you can feel good about contributing to cancer research and probably even score a nice tax deduction.

The auction is tied into the live, commercial free event on ABC, CBS and NBC this Friday, September 5th to benefit the "Stand Up to Cancer" cause featuring live performances, special celebrity appearances and segments exploring the cutting-edge cancer research currently being conducted.
