  On a recent episode of Secret’s Out, I featured two French films: one just out on DVD called Girl on the Bridge, and one that’s now playing in theaters, Tell No One. I confess that I’m a sucker for French cinema, and maybe that’s why I enjoyed Vatel, which didn’t get great reviews when it opened in this country.

  The magnificent Gerard Depardieu plays what you might call the ultimate party planner who’s given his most demanding assignment when his employer, Julian Glover, announces that King Louis XIV himself is going to visit. Uma Thurman plays a lady-in-waiting and Tim Roth is an underhanded aide to the King in this story of multiple intrigues set against a sumptuous backdrop, with Depardieu as the man who gives so much of himself to his job that he sacrifices his own happiness in the process.

• Movie dealz: Brittany Murphy, Jason Lee, The Incredible Hulk and... Ace Ventura 3?!

  Brittany Murphy, Jason Lee, Giovanni Ribisi, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Izzard, Tim Roth, and Lili Taylor have signed on to join the cast of The Other Side. David Michaels is set to direct.

  The fantasy comedy about a grad student who discovers an eccentric group of residents hiding a terrible secret when she is stationed on a remote northern island will start filming in Nova Scotia in November. Sounds like The Shipping News meets Waking Ned Devine to us...

  ...The Incredible Hulk is getting a boost in the form of Christina Cabot (Fight Club), who has signed on to join Edward Norton, Tim Roth, Liv Tyler, and William Hurt in the comic-inspired sequel to 2003's Hulk. Cabot will be playing an aide to Bruce-Banner-chaser, General Ross (Hurt)...

  And finally, not only is there going to be an Ace Ventura 3, but it will star a kid. Twelve-year-old Josh Flitter, most recently seen as Robin Williams' creepy sidekick in License to Wed, has signed to star in the 'comedy,' which will follow Ace Ventura's son (Flitter) as he too becomes a pet detective who must find out who stole a baby panda to exonerate his wrongly-accused mother. Sounds like someone needed money to buy a new pool.

• Roth to be Abomination for Hulk

  Variety reports that perennial villain Tim Roth has been cast as the primary villain in the upcoming Incredible Hulk movie from Univeral. Roth will play the alter ego to the character named Abonimation, Emil Blonsky.

  According to Wikipedia, The Abomination is "a KGB agent who becomes the Abomination after deliberately exposing himself to the same gamma radiation (but in a greater quantity) that transforms Bruce Banner into the Hulk... Blonsky is transformed into a massive green-skinned monster with physical strength exceeding even that of the Hulk."

  Tim Roth has made a career of sorts as the baddie, portraying an evil ape in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes, Liam Neeson's arch nemesis in Rob Roy and an enemy of good taste in 2000's Lucky Numbers.

  Roth joins fellow castmembers Edward Norton as Bruce Banner and Liv Tyler as The Obligatory Girl.
