  • Moses Headed to the Big Screen Once Again
    The Ten Commandments Exodus

Move over Charlton Heston. Variety writes that 20th Century Fox plans on producing a new cinematic version of Exodus. As if that weren't enough, they want to do it in the style of 300. Yes, that 300 — the male meat-fest from "visionary director" Zack Snyder.

Hmmm ... so can we count on seeing a Moses who's less world-weary and wise than he is lean and mean with ripped abs? Should we expect: "Let my people go, you scum-sucking Egyptian!"? Or a desert scene with Israelites sampling heaven's food before crying out, "This ... is ... MANNA!!!"

The script will be written by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Accepted), who have already been approved to draft a graphic novel-style adaptation of Herman Melville's classic Moby Dick for director Timur Bekmambetov. We certainly love graphic novels and the way they've gained acceptance as a legitimate artform. But seriously . . . Moby Dick?

Cooper and Collage's script for the story of Moses will incorporate all the elements of the traditional Bible story, including Moses' birth, his defiance of the Pharaoh, the Ten Plagues, the crossing of the Red Sea, the Ten Commandments, and the journey across the desert to Israel. But their version will also draw on the Midrash, which are Rabbinical interpretations of Biblical texts. Which may help explain some liberties being taken, but we doubt there was a Rabbi who mentioned anything about "sweet fight sequences."

  • Wanted Director Thinks He Can Bring Back Angelina Jolie for Wanted 2
    Angelina Jolie

Russian director Timur Bekmambetov scored a huge hit with the bullet-bending visuals of Wanted, the adaptation of Mark Millar's comic book. With James McAvoy and Terence Stamp returning for the sequel, Bekmambetov would like Angelina Jolie back as well. There's only one small problem — her final scene in Wanted.

"She was kind of ... dead," Bekmambetov told MTV.

Not that death should prohibit a character's return. Not in a comic book movie, anyway. Bekmambetov has a plan for Jolie's return:

If you remember from the first film, we have a recovery room with the baths of wax. We know how to do this, but it's still tough to do, because the bullet is inside her head. But there has to be a reason for her to come back ... and we know the reason. I think we found the reason for her to come back.

Bekmambetov believes they will make Wanted 2 "this winter," though Jolie's return is still far from certain, especially after Jolie insisted her character be killed in Wanted.

In the original, she doesn't kill herself. I actually changed the ending. I said, "If she was to find out she had killed people unjustly and was a part of something that wasn't fair, then she should take her own life.

Bekmambetov better have a good "plan."
