• Justin Theroux to Pen Space Invader Romantic Comedy

  

  Justin Theroux is something of a Renaissance man in Hollywood. As an actor, Theroux has appeared on numerous TV shows and in over a dozen movies, including acclaimed filmmaker David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. In addition, Theroux also works behind the scenes and behind the camera. He produced and wrote the script for Tropic Thunder and he wrote and directed Dedication.

  Theroux recently tried his hand at the superhero genre, penning the script for the sequel to director Jon Favreau's adaptation of the classic Marvel Comics character Iron Man. Now, THR is reporting that Theroux has been hired by Fox to write a draft of Space Invader, a romantic comedy set in space that was originally written by Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger. Will Arnett (Arrested Development) will star in Space Invader as a man who follows his wife into space because he suspects her of cheating on him with one of her fellow astronauts. Theroux may also direct the movie, though this is still uncomfirmed.

• Michael Cera Agrees to Arrested Development?

  Oh happy day. An increasing diva-like Michael Cera has reportedly agreed to do the Arrested Development movie. Sources tell E! that Mitchell Hurwitz is writing the script and Ron Howard will direct for Fox Searchlight.

  This follows optimistic news from the Oscars, where Howard told Ryan Seacrest, "It's looking very much like we're going to make [the movie], but we've now been asked to stop offering any details. It's cloaked in a little mystery, but it's looking good."

  Cera was allegedly that last holdout amongst the cast, with Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor, and David Cross reportedly already having agreed to do the flick.

• Arrested Development Movie on Once Again?

  Despite a loyal cult following since its first season, the future of Arrested Development has been in question almost since its inception in 2003. Seasons two and three were in doubt, with critical response ultimately trumping sub-par ratings. Finally, after three seasons, the reviews could keep the little show alive no more.

  Ever since the final episode aired in 2006, rumors of an Arrested movie have been on again, off again. Well, according to our friends over at MTV Movies, the movie talk is on again, at least says Mr. Will Arnett. The former G.O.B. hinted that the participation of his famous non-P.C. puppet, Franklin, however, is still in doubt: "“[His participation] is going to come down to Franklin’s agents, obviously; everybody’s got a price," Arnett says. "“Is Franklin still alive? I don’t even remember what happened to him.”

• Bring on the funny: upcoming comedies for Ben Kingsley, Kate Hudson, Will Arnett and more

  If you don't have a comedy coming up these days in Hollywood, you are totally out of the loop.

  Variety is reporting that shooting has already started on The Wackness, a comedy written and directed by Jonathan Levine (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) about a teenaged drug dealer who trades pot for therapy sessions and then falls for his shrink's daughter. Sir Ben Kingsley (Schindler's List, You Kill Me), Famke Janssen (X-Men, Love & Sex), and Mary-Kate Olsen (Full House, New York Minute) all have roles.

  And The Hollywood Reporter has news on three more comedies.

  The funnyman with the unbelievably deep voice, Will Arnett, (Arrested Development, Blades of Glory) will finally get his moment in the sun with Space Invader, a comedy about the son of a NASA legend who must overcome his fear of flying to win back his astronaut girlfriend--who is, of course, headed into space with an unbelievable hunk. It will be directed by Andrew Currie (Fido, Mile Zero).

  Kate Hudson and Dane Cook (Employee of the Month) are slated to act opposite each other in Bachelor No. 2, a romantic comedy about a man whose job it is to take women on awful dates so they go back to their ex-boyfriends. The dry and hilarious Alec Baldwin will co-star and Howard Deutch (The Whole Ten Yards, Pretty in Pink) will direct. 

  Finally, teen-movie queens Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That) and Sarah Roemer (Disturbia) are signed to star in a romantic comedy called The Golden Door, about a blue-collar nursing student who gets a job as a swanky Manhattan doorman and falls in love with one of the residents. Joseph Cross (Running With Scissors) and Snoop Dogg (Starsky & Hutch) are in negotiations to co-star.
