  • John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker Join Cast of Red

RedEarlier this week, Helen Mirren officially joined the cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of the graphic novel Red. She took her place alongside a cast that already includes Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter writes that John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker have signed on as the newest additions.

The story of Red was written by noted author Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner. It focuses on a menial clerk, Paul Moses (Willis), who is actually a CIA operative with a long history of killing enemies of the state. He must come out of retirement when the new CIA director (Freeman) discovers his past and orders his death. Mirren is rumored for the part of Moses' former boss, although it is unclear how much screen time she will have, if any.

Reportedly, Reilly will portray a retired CIA agent with a streak of paranoia while Parker will play Moses's love interest, a pension worker who helps Moses in his struggle to survive.

Red is being helmed by Flightplan director Robert Schwentke and will begin shooting in Toronto and Louisiana this coming January. Summit Entertainment has scheduled a November 19, 2010 release.

  • Jonah Hill to Play Marisa Tomei's Jealous Teenage Son?

Jonah HillVariety reports that Jonah Hill, Marisa Tomei, and John Reilly may form one of the stranger triangles in recent Hollywood filmdom. Reilly will play a divorced man who falls for single mom Tomei, and Hill will play Tomei's jealous teenage son, who also happens to be a 40-year-old studio executive. Okay, we made up that last part, but if the writers can fit it into the script somehow, it will make the whole thing more believable. Even if he shaves the beard and puts in some contacts, 25-year-old Hill is looking just a little bit too super-old to keep playing teenagers, isn't he?

  • Willem Dafoe Plays Vamp in Cirque Du Freak

ReelzChannel.com and a few other online outlets were part of a group brought down to the set of Cirque Du Freak in New Orleans earlier this week. We saw the sets, spoke to cast and watched some filming.

Sadly, we are sworn to secrecy for now, but what we can tell you is that Willem Dafoe has joined the cast as Gavner Purl. This has been confirmed and actually, we saw him on set in full costume.

Cirque Du Freak is an adaptation of the first three books of the popular U.K. series by Darren Shan. Paul Weitz (About a Boy, American Pie) directs. Joining Dafoe in the cast of freaks and vampires is Salma Hayek as Madame Truska (aka "The Bearded Lady") and, actually, she doesn't look half bad with a burly beard. There's also John C. Reilly as Larten Crepsley, Ken Watanabe as Mr. Tall and Patrick Fugit as Snake Boy.

If you're a fan of the Cirque Du Freak novels, drop us a line or post a comment below and let us know what you think about this one. More to come on Cirque Du Freak!
