  • Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox Get Some Passion Play In

Megan FoxProductionWeekly's Twitter page revealed that Passion Play starts production this month.

Mitch Glazer's period drama Passion Play starring Mickey Rourke & Megan Fox will shoot in New Mexico from Oct. thru Dec.

Passion Play is the directorial debut for screenwriter Glazer (Scrooged), who also wrote the script. It follows an unusual romance between a down-on-his-luck trumpet player (Rourke) and a caged circus freak (Fox), which forms when Rourke saves Fox from a ruthless mobster. Fox described the project and her character to MTV last month.

I'm doing a movie called Passion Play with Mickey Rourke. There is a love story there, it's clearly not going to be a typical one. My character is basically a circus freak, she lives in a cage 'cause she has wings. She's not an angel, but she has these giant wings that grow out of her back. She's a freak and so she's on display basically with the circus.

Passion Play is set for release sometime in 2010.

  • Michael Bay and Megan Fox to Reunite in Transformers 3

Michael BayAfter the hugely successful Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen hit theaters this summer, director Michael Bay said he wanted to work on a "small movie" before launching into Transformers 3. Bay was eyeing either the bodybuilding comedy Pain & Gain or an adaptation of the teen action/sci-fi novel I Am Number Four, a commitment that opened the door for a possible Bay-less sequel.

Consider that door closed. Bay used his own website to announce that he is working on Transformers 3 next, and that it will appear earlier than anticipated.

Well it's official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.

July 1 was the original release date Paramount gave Transformers 3, but it was Bay that said the movie was more likely to arrive in 2012. Bay says he will work on Pain & Gain after Transformers 3 is finished, but is already hard at work on "Trans 3."

Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I'm flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

Megan FoxWhile Bay did not mention Shia LeBeouf by name, it is likely he will return for the sequel, and despite the antagonism between Bay and Fox that was chronicled by the press, Bay says Fox is returning.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

  • Jennifer's Body Reviews

Jennifer's BodyDespite a strong premise, Megan Fox, and a screenplay by Juno darling Diablo Cody, it appears Jennifer's Body is more than a little bit of a letdown.

6"Jennifer's Body represents a cornucopia of ideas, both comedy and horror, and the determination of the filmmakers to simply play the odds of getting more elements right than wrong instead of pursuing a purer vision makes it a mixed viewing experience, though often a very strange and funny one."

    — Ryan Stewart, Slant Magazine

5"An unoriginal and mostly unscary horror-comedy from, surprisingly, the pen of Diablo Cody."

    — Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter

    4"A premeditated cult classic..."

    — Nick Pinkerton, Village Voice

4"...this high school horror romp tackles its bad-girl-gone-really-bad premise with eye-rolling obviousness and, fatally, a near-total absence of real scares."

    — Justin Chang, Variety

  • New Clips from Jennifer's Body Talk up the Horror

Jennifer's BodyWith Jennifer's Body headed into theaters this Friday, the studio has released a huge new batch of clips highlighting ... the dialogue. An unusual choice for a horror flick, but in this case not so surprising because the script was written by Diablo Cody, the pen behind Juno.

The clips don't disappoint. We start off with a longer look at the botched sacrifice that made Jennifer (Megan Fox) the demon she is for the rest of the film. As the band explains to a terrified Jennifer exactly why they have to sacrifice her to the devil, it becomes painfully obvious that they are very much amateur Satanists. When you pick up your recipe for human sacrifice off the Internet, you really should expect things to go terribly wrong.

The other clips mostly flesh out scenes that were teased in the trailers or in earlier clips. Again the emphasis is not so much on the gross-out horror, but on the often humorous interchanges between Jennifer and Needy (Amanda Seyfried), whose relationship is the real heart of the movie. See a few of our favorites below.

  • The Trojan Horse Inside Jennifer's Body

Jennifer's BodyPuzzling over the newfound box-office success of horror flicks with female audiences, the New York Times looks into what's happening with Jennifer's Body. With its theme of demon-assisted vengeance of a woman done wrong, the movie is making a fairly obvious play for the women in the audience. It allows women, as the paper puts it, to "take back the knife."

Beyond that, the movie's creators tell the Times that they set out from the beginning to insert some feminist themes without sabotaging the movie's appeal for 15-year-old boys. By sticking to the tried-and-true genre formula of "screams, skin and death" — and having Megan Fox play Jennifer — an audience of young boys seems pretty much guaranteed. As for the feminists, writer Diablo Cody explains:

The tricky thing is if you're going to subvert [the sex and violence], they have to be there.... We were constantly bobbing and weaving. [Director Karyn Kusama] and I talk about the film as a kind of Trojan horse. We wanted to package our beliefs in a way that's appealing to a mainstream audience.

They were, she says, under a lot of pressure to give up the feminist subtext and just make a straight horror film, but ultimately her original script survived more or less intact, Trojan horse and all.

  • Playing House in New Clip from Jennifer's Body

Candles can be romantic ... or they can be satanic. In a new two-minute clip from Jennifer's Body, there's a play of ambiguity until events definitely finish off on the more devilish side for Jennifer's playmate du jour (Kyle Gallner).

It's an extended version of the "playing mommy and daddy" sequence that was included in ET's kiss-and-tell featurette. A little less staccato and more atmospheric in context, the clip shows off the way the movie builds up the tension, and then delivers the inevitable bloody release.

  • Kiss and Tell from Behind the Scenes of Jennifer's Body

Jennifer's BodyJennifer's Body isn't just about a demon-possessed girl gobbling up the high school boys. As Jennifer (Megan Fox) informs her friend Needy (Amanda Seyfried) at one point in the movie, "I go both ways." At that point it's a real threat. Earlier it's a bit more playful, as Jennifer and Needy play boyfriend-girlfriend and kiss in a scene that has already attracted quite a bit of voyeuristic attention.

ET includes footage of the notorious kiss as part of its behind-the-scenes look at Jennifer's Body. Also included are a few more short scenes, such as Jennifer offering to play mommy and daddy with one ill-fated young boy. We definitely get the sense that Jennifer is a girl who likes to play with her food — and mix a bit of menace into her seductions.

Oh, and one more thing about that kiss: Fox says she was totally comfortable with it, but Seyfried was most definitely not.

  • Jennifer's Body Featurette Throws Amanda Seyfried into the Limelight

It's not like she needed a whole lot more exposure, but the demonically possessed Megan Fox is back in a new behind-the-scenes video from Jennifer's Body. As the movie's title character, she exhibits an insatiable (and rather messy) appetite for high school boys that ultimately sets her on a collision course with her far-less-glamorous best friend, "Needy" (Amanda Seyfried).

Despite lacking evil superpowers, Needy turns not to be as defenseless as she first appears. The new bits of footage and commentary from the actresses and writer-exec producer Diablo Cody we get here actually end up shedding more light on Needy than on the more flashy (and toothsome) Jennifer. Plus, we get a first peek at the misbegotten sacrifice that sets everything in motion.

  • Megan Fox Advises High School Kids to "Do It"

Jennifer's BodyNo, its not some sort of Nike tie-in for her upcoming movie Jennifer's Body. When Megan Fox says "do it," she's not talking about her shoes.

Her uncensored faux PSA about how to deal with peer pressure goes quite a bit father than that. In it, she urges young girls to take her title character Jennifer as a role model. Given the demon under Jennifer's skin, the advice is just as problematic as you might expect.

  • Fine Tuning the Horror in Jennifer's Body

Jennifer's BodyIn an extended interview with Fangoria, filmmakers explained to horror fans just how Jennifer's Body fits into the genre. The movie follows a young beauty who, after a botched satanic sacrifice, ends up possessed by a demon with a real taste for boys.

Although Jennifer's Body follows many of the tropes of classic horror movies, it's the filmmakers' maiden voyage into the genre and really isn't all about the gore. Rather, director Karyn Kusama explains, they are looking to strike the right balance between horror, humor, and character:

... you definitely have to walk a fine line between the loose, comic high school relationship moments and the story's more legitimate suspense and horror elements ... what it all boils down to is finding the right emotional hooks between the characters and finding what feels true to the teenagers.

    Producer Daniel Dubiecki adds:

This is really a character movie, a relationship film about these two girls.... They were best friends when they were little kids ... Things have changed between them, and they are going through a dynamic where this friendship is coming to an end.

Of course, the movie serves up plenty of gore as well. For a preview of that side of the movie, just check out the still of Jennifer's leftovers accompanying the article. Because of scenes like this, there will be no PG-13 cut of the film, Dubiecki insists.

Still, Kusama says, they tried to take a more subtle approach with some aspects Jennifer's demon:

When she doesn't feed and grows hungry, she starts to physically deteriorate. But because she's Megan Fox — or because she's the famous Jennifer Check of Devil's Kettle, Minnesota — her version of deteriorating involves just starting to look a little bit more like a lot of girls. [Make-up/prosthetics atrist Greg Nicotero] is really good at helping guide us toward a look that's subtle, but definitely different from how Megan appears when she's looking like a million bucks.... There's just a coolness to it, to me that you can watch this beautiful girl at a stage where sometimes her hair is falling out, or her skin isn't perfectly porcelain, or her eyes are kind of bloodshot, or her teeth get a little dirty.

Definitely a complex and ambitious set of goals, but if they can pull it all off, Jennifer's Body may just turn out to be one demon flick whose beauty is more than skin deep.

  • Megan Fox Really Doesn't Want to Play Wonder Woman

Megan FoxMegan Fox is no stranger to comic book movies, given the pair of Transformers movies under her belt and her role in the upcoming Jonah Hex adaptation, but Fox seems to be extremely against playing the iconic hero Wonder Woman, at one point calling the Amazonian goddess "lame." Fox told MTV that since then her feelings have not changed:

I feel like that's a hard adaptation to make into a live-action film. She flies around in an invisible jet and she has a lasso of truth ... It's going to be a hard movie to make live action.

Fox may be adamant about not playing the part, but other actresses are pretty excited about all the elements of a Wonder Woman movie that seem to make Fox shy away from it. Jennifer Love Hewitt admitted she wants to the role "so bad" and explained why she would be perfect for it:

Curvaceous ... Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists — tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I'm very athletic.

However, att this point, with no Wonder Woman movie in development (though as of March Warner Bros. was seeking screenwriters and a director), it may be a while before anyone is seriously considered for the role.

  • Megan Fox Says Jennifer's Body Will Spotlight Her Acting Ability

Actress Megan Fox scoffed when reporters asked her about the possibility of playing a superhero in a live-action Wonder Woman movie, but apparently playing a zombie wasn't beneath her consideration. Perhaps that's because she found the role to be so unlike the decidedly un-sexy zombies to appear on screen in previous movies.

In the still-in-production comedy-horror movie Jennifer's Body, Fox plays a cheerleader who returns from the dead as a zombie to feast on her former classmates. In a recent interview, Fox said that zombies can be "sexy" and that there was a lot of eroticism in the movie:

Fox was criticized for being so critical of Transformers, the franchise that made her famous. She contrasts her new movie with Transformers, saying that she has more opportunities to act in Jennifer's Body:

There are no robots to distract you from whatever performance I give, so if it's terrible you will know. But the character was so much fun. I felt I was being able to make fun of my own image.

Jennifer's Body is currently in production, with Karyn Kusama (Æon Flux) directing from a script by Diablo Cody (Juno). If a zombie revenge movie seems a strange thing for the indie darling to write after the heartfelt tale of Juno MacGuff, think again. Cody told Entertainment Weekly:

I was involved in a typical adolescent love triangle, and I found myself having incredibly violent thoughts about this other girl.

  • Jonah Hex Poster Revealed at SDCC

    Comic-Con 2009: San Diego

Jonah HexThe first official poster for Jonah Hex was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con, and by the looks of it, Megan Fox fans are not going to be disappointed by the corset-bound starlet. However, they will likely ignore Josh Brolin's contribution.

Jonah Hex opens June 18, 2010, and stars Brolin as Hex. A scarred bounty hunter, Hex is hunting down a voodoo practitioner (John Malkovich ) who is trying to raise an army of the undead and liberate the South.

IGN saw the trailer at SDCC and called it "a nice blend of the Western aesthetic with elements of horror." From the plot description, that sounds about right.

  • Jennifer's Body Aims For "Delightfully Exploitative" Feminism

    Comic-Con 2009: San Diego

Jennifer's BodyThe first 15 minutes of Jennifer's Body got screened at Comic-Con, followed by a press conference with star Megan Fox, director Karyn Kusama, writer Diablo Cody, and producer Jason Reitman. Sadly, the footage has not made its way onto the net, but all sorts of interesting details about the plot and direction of the movie were revealed.

From the red-band trailer, it was quite evident that however hot Jennifer might be on the outside, she was harboring a demon under her skin. Now we know why. It was a virgin sacrifice gone awry, not least because she didn't exactly meet the job requirements. After that, it's a not-so-straight-up combination of a woman-done-wrong revenge flick and sexy, bloody horror.

Megan Fox seemed to particularly relish the contrast from her role in Transformers, and was dropping f-bombs left and right. About her new role she says:

This movie gets so sexy! You better put on your f***in' sexy shoes for this one. Before every kill, there is a seduction because these boys have to get close enough to this dead girl for her to devour them. And I think I'm pretty sexy in it.

With the male body count piling higher and higher, filmmakers insist that the movie has a feminist message. Of course, it manages to be, as they put it, "delightfully exploitative" along the way.

  • Michael Bay Filmed Megan Fox Washing His Ferrari as Audition for Transformers
    Megan Fox

There's been a lot of talk recently about some verbal feuding between Transformers star Megan Fox and Michael Bay. Fox recently dissed the 44-year-old pyromaniacal director by saying that working with him was not an actor's experience. Bay responded by saying that Fox had a lot of growing up to do.

But it appears that there is something to Fox's indication that Bay treats his actors as props — and she can apparently speak from personal experience. Several sources, including The San Francisco Chronicle, The London Free Press, and The National Ledger are making quite a fuss over the following quote from British writer Jason Solomons, published in this article for The Observer:

[Fox] told me she went to director Michael Bay's house to audition and he made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her. She said she didn't know what had happened to that footage. When I put it to Bay himself, he looked suitably abashed. "Er, I don't know where it is either."

In Bay's defense, maybe he just really wanted a free car wash and knew an opportunity when he saw one.

  • Michael Bay Calls Megan Fox Comments "Ridiculous"

Michael BaySome people just can't catch a break. Take director Michael Bay, for instance. The oft-criticized director is hot off of a blockbuster opening, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, that saw the movie earn an estimated $201 million in its first five days, and he's already having to defend himself from another attack. This time, it's one of his "discoveries," actress Megan Fox, who played Mikaela Banes, love interest to Shia LaBeouf's Transformers character, Sam Witwicky, who is lobbing the criticism at Bay.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fox complained about Bay making the actors go through unnecessary training and said that Transformers was about special effects and not acting. When asked to comment on Fox's statements, Bay said:

Well, that's Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, "Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it." But I 100% disagree with her.... Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers.

Bay also mentioned that his films helped the careers of Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Martin Lawrence and LaBeouf. Despite defending his use of special effects, however, Bay said that he's looking to switch gears with his next project:

I've been talking to some big actors right now about something that is totally different. A small dark comedy, a true story, with actors just acting, no effects. I'm done with effects movies for now.

Transformers: Revenge of the FallenOpening a week ahead of its U.S. release date — and despite the recent news that director Michael Bay was very unhappy with Paramount for not marketing the film strong enough — Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has opened at the number one spot internationally, with $14.1 million in the U.K. and $5.8 million in Japan. According to Paramount, the sequel to 2007's Transformers defeated the original's opening in the U.K. by 71% and in Japan by 13%.

Terminator Salvation, the franchise relaunch starring Christian Bale, formerly the number one film internationally, dropped down to second place, with box-office receipts totaling $18.4 million. The third place film, The Hangover, raked in $11.7 million, while the fourth- and fifth-place films, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and The Proposal, earned $10.4 million and $10 million, respectively.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, John Turturro, Rainn Wilson, and Josh Duhamel.

  • Michael Bay Blasts Studio Over Transformers: ROTF Marketing

    Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

A scathing email from director Michael Bay to executives at Paramount Studios has leaked, complaining about the lack of marketing for this week's release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen:

You all talk so glowingly about Transformers being the movie of the summer but unfortunately this has not gotten to the public. I still run into so many people even this weekend with kids that ask "is that movie coming out this year?".

In the email, dated May 4, Bay goes on to speculate that the problem might be financial:

I cannot figure if this is a cash issue with your company? Is there some clever idea why are we not spending? I'm not sure. I'm sure the movie will do fine, but not to your internal expectations because right now we are fooling ourselves by being cocky.

In a second leaked email, dated June 6, Bay sounds conciliatory, but it's hard to tell the intended tone:

I've been working a month and a half seven days a week and wonder why I bust my ass for Paramount??

Why? Because you have treated me so well. Paramount is like family. Thank you all for busting your butts and bringing your 'A game' for the release of Transformers.

  • Megan Fox Won't Play Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Megan FoxLatest rumors surrounding the previously announced Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie have attached Transformers star Megan Fox as title heroine Buffy Summers.

The 23-year-old Tennessee native has denied any links to vampires and slayers, with Buffy producer Roy Lee telling IGN:

"The rumors of Megan Fox being involved with Buffy are just rumors. As with any film project with a female lead under the age of 30, Megan is the actress that most studios want so it is no surprise her name is mentioned. While I think she would be great for our project, we are still in the early stages of developing the script."

The proposed movie will have no ties to either the 1992 movie or the TV show, which ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003. Sunnydale genius Joss Whedon won't be involved, and neither will fan-favorite Sarah Michelle Gellar. Original Buffy rights holders Fran Rubel Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui are clearly trying to cash in on the sudden popularity surge in all things fanged and, let's face it, it doesn't sound very good. • Guilt Drove LaBeouf Back to the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Set

    Transformers

In his own words, actor Shia LaBeouf "kissed death on the face" when he was involved in a devastating car accident last July, nearly derailing the production of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. LaBeouf's left hand was severely damaged in the crash, but his concern for the cast and crew of the film drove him to return to the set a mere two weeks after his release from the hospital, rather than taking the recommended six months to heal.

In a recent interview with Wizard magazine, LaBeouf said:

The guilt...felt worse than any physical pain, to know that you got a whole crew of men and women, and the reason that they're not collecting a check is because of your situation—that's a f---in' hard thing to stomach. So, literally, the moment I had consciousness, it was 'Where's my call sheet?'

LaBeouf credits his Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull co-star, Harrison Ford, with helping him through the injury:

That man is a solid individual in more ways than just being a solid actor. I didn't need to hear 'How are you?' You need to hear Harrison Ford say, 'Get the f--- up, kid.' You need that and he knows that. And I needed it.

Paramount legal has been hard at work keeping unauthorized footage shown at ShoWest from being posted online, and now we know why. A bit of it is included in this new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer.

The second official trailer started airing in theaters and on TV last night. Beyond the aforementioned scene between Sam and Bumblebee, the trailer is a veritable smorgasbord of transforming robot goodness -- including some awesome action with the super constructicon known as Devastator.

  • Megan Fox to Go Green?

Megan FoxThere's never been any rumor that fanboys have wanted to be true more than this one: Megan Fox will play She-Hulk in an upcoming big screen adaptation. Reports are quoting an unnamed "source" that claim the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star will "make She-Hulk sexier but even more savage than the Hulk, which is why Megan is the big favorite for the lead. She'll be green of course and will have to hang on to a few more pieces of clothes than the male version when she transforms."

Fox will have competition if Nicolas Cage has anything to say about it. Cage is apparently working on She-Hulk and wants Ghost Rider co-star Eva Mendes to play the part:

I'd like to see Eva play her. It would be her in a bikini just kicking a lot of ass, throwing cars. I'm trying to put that together as we speak.

Speaking, that is, to a "source." Keep your fingers crossed, comic book fans, and check back with ReelzChannel for updates!

  • Jonah Hex the Next Movie for Megan Fox

Fanboy fantasy Megan Fox is padding her resume with comic book movies as she's now been cast in her third: Jonah Hex.

According to FirstShowing.net, Fox will play Leila, a gun-wielding beauty and love interest of Hex, a disfigured bounty hunter who is tracking down a voodoo practitioner that wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South.

The movie that first brought her attention was 2007's blockbuster Transformers, and she is reprising her role in this year's sequel.

It was announced late last year that she will star in Jimmy Hayward's adaptation of Fathom, a comic book movie about a race of aquatic humanoids who possess the ability to control water.

  • Yes on Tomb Raider Reboot, No on Megan Fox

Megan FoxMere days ago, speculation had Megan Fox possibly replacing Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in a possible 3rd entry to the Tomb Raider series. Now a few reports have come out to clear up the "possible" rumors.

First, a reboot of the series is in development, says The Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros., and not Paramount, who made the first two Tomb Raiders, is looking to completely retell the Lara Croft origin story with a new love interest and villain, and, presumably, a renewed dedication to hotness when looking for the new Lara Croft. So that makes Fox a lock, right? Right?

Not so, says io9, who were told by a spokesperson for Megan Fox that "She's not involved in the movie at all." She also won't be Wonder Woman. But don't worry, Photoshop-savvy Megan Fox fans. With the movie still in development, and no writer or director attached yet, Fox is still a, well, possibility.
