  • Another Dragonball Movie Already in the Works

JunoThe first live-action Dragonball movie won't open in theaters un til this Friday, however a sequel has already been planned. Justin Chatwin, who plays Goku in the movie, told MTV:

I know they've written a second one and it's pretty far out there. The second one really goes to some different places that I've never seen in any comic book adaptation.

Chatwin is also anxious to continue in the role and with the franchise, should it become one. Said Chatwin:

We’re going to get to Dragonball Z later, where Piccolo becomes youthful and he’s going to become the Piccolo that most people recognize.

Director James Wong was more realistic about the future on the Dragonball franchise, saying that even with a script for a sequel, the real green light won't happen unless Dragonball Evolution performs well at the box office.

  • Dragonball Evolution Interview with Justin Chatwin and Emmy Rossum

The stars of Dragonball Evolution sat down with Japanese TV to discuss their roles in the martial arts actioner.

You may not understand the questions (they are in Japanese), but the answers are interesting.

Fans reacted with disdain for this movie early on, fearing that filmmakers couldn't do the over-the-top cartoon justice -- especially after some low-quality scenes leaked out. But initial animosity for the anime-to-live-action flick has lessoned after seeing recent footage of higher quality.

  • New Dragonball Evolution Trailer Shows Shenron

In this clip you get to see a lot more martial arts action between the bad guy Piccolo (James Marsters) and the hero Goku (Justin Chatwin) -- and even a quick glimpse at the mystical dragon Shenron.

In the original storyline, Shenron is the guardian of the dragonballs of Earth and grants a wish to whoever gathers all seven.

  • Dragonball Re-shoot Details Revealed

James Marsters as Piccolo and Justin Chatwin as Goku in DragonballFinally, some good news for beleaguered Dragonball fans. Okay, it's not necessarily good news, but it's better than some of us had anticipated. MTV's Shawn Adler chased down star Jamie Chung, who plays Chi Chi in the live-action adaptation of the hugely popular manga/anime series, to find out about the rumors of re-shoots that have plagued the production in recent weeks. "I think it's just one scene that they're gonna have to reshoot and it's the end fight," Chung told Adler. "I fortunately will not have to go back. I think it's the big fight between Justin Chatwin and James Marsters."

Good to hear that it's only one scene that they have to re-shoot. Presumably it's the one pictured above which, now that we look at it, does seem kind of low-tech and cheesy. Hopefully director James Wong will do something to fix up the background, which in this instance looks like something out of a Sid and Marty Krofft show, for the re-shoot.

  • Invisible Review

Another one of this weekend's wide releases is The Invisible. It stars Justin Chatwin as Nick Powell, a privilaged high school senior who is everyone's envy on the surface, but underneath an unhappy, mixed up kid ever since his dad's death.

He unwittingly mixes himself up with a gang of school thugs lead by troublemaker Annie Newton (Margarita Levieva) while trying to protect a friend (Chris Marquette). They track him down and beat him to death, but the trick is... he's not actually dead. Powell is now a spirit with a brief amount of time to save his own life before his Earthly body expires.

Now, as lame as the trailer for this looked, I figured David S. Goyer's involvement meant there had to be something more here than appeared. After all, this is the guy that wrote Batman Begins and Blade, right?

But I was wrong. Oh so painfully wrong. The Invisible is absolutely terrible. It is a cliche of a chiche of a cliche. The direction, the characters, the story... bad, bad and bad again. There is nothing likable about this movie. It's predictable, bland and overwelmingly stupid. Do yourself a favor and go see Hot Fuzz or even Next this weekend. Heck, see almost anything else. Roll the dice and you'd probably see a better movie than this.
