Those looking to get their Batman fix prior to the July 18th release of The Dark Knight will want to check out Batman: Gotham Knight, a new DVD featuring six short animated films directed by prominent Japanese anime artists and written by comic book luminaries like David Goyer and A History of Violence's Josh Olson. (Christian Bale didn't lend his voice to the short films -- that role went to voiceover artist Kevin Conroy, a longtime veteran of the animated Batman TV series.) Fans of the Matrix trilogy will recall that the Wachowski Brothers did a similar thing for The Matrix Reloaded, releasing a DVD called The Animatrix in advance of their blockbuster sequel.
Batman: Gotham Knight arrives on DVD shelves on July 8th. Head over to Yahoo! Movies to check out the trailer.
