According to The Hollywood Reporter, 28-year-old Catalina Sandino Moreno has been cast as vampire Maria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Colombia native Moreno is best known for her role in Maria Full of Grace, and was recently seen in Che parts one and two.
Moreno is set to play Maria, the vampire who first finds Confederate Army Major Jasper Cullen during the Southern vampire wars. She's the vampire responsible for creating newborn armies and, along with her sisters Nettie and Lucy, overpowered many Mexican vampire clans. Moreno certainly looks the part — she's around the right age and, thanks to Che, we know she can definitely lean towards the menacing side. What do you think, Twilighters? Are you happy with the casting?
Eclipse is due to start shooting next week, and the movie's stars, including Robert Pattinson, have already started arriving in Vancouver. Let the Twilight madness begin (again).
