  • Rachel McAdams Shoots Down Spider-Man 4 Rumor

Rachel McAdams in The Time Traveler's WifeIf Spider-Man 4 contains the character of The Black Cat, it's doubtful that Rachel McAdams will play the role. McAdams responded to Entertainment Weekly about the online speculation.

That's a total rumor, I have to say. I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, "I just heard you're doing Spider-Man 4." And I said,"Really? No one told me!" It's not true.

Of course, the original report only said that McAdams had met with Spider-Man 4 producers, not that she had the role. Still, a Sony rep confirmed that the McAdams casting is "an Internet rumor, as so many things are these days."

The search for an actress to play The Black Cat is still reportedly ongoing.

  • Search for Black Cat in Spider-Man 4 Confirmed

The Black Cat in The Amazing Spider-ManOn Monday, word got out that Rachel McAdams was meeting with producers to possibly play the role of Felicia Hardy, a.k.a The Black Cat, in Spider-Man 4. Meanwhile, Emma actress Romola Garai revealed to The Observer that she was put "on tape" for a part in Spider-Man 4 last week, and while Garai never specified what role she was up for, her similarity to McAdams led to more speculation that the Black Cat was the villain in the upcoming sequel.

Now HeyUGuys has confirmed with their "sources" that the role of the Black Cat is indeed up for grabs.

According to our friendly neighborhood spider-source there are a number of actresses currently being considered for the role, but this at least confirms that Hardy is going to be in the film.

The arc of the Hardy character was also revealed, and somewhat follows Hardy's background from the comic books.

Apparently she is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as "a viper". She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker (presumably as The Black Cat).

In the comics, Hardy does meet Parker while trying to steal enough money to help her father, and a relationship does develop between the two.

While this is all admittedly rumor, SlashFilm has verified the source for HeyUGuys and added to the speculation that the "viper" talked about may very well be "The Vulture," another of Spider-Man's enemies.

Again, with so many rumors flying around, it's hard to know what's true. Stay tuned.

  • Rachel McAdams To Play The Black Cat in Spider-Man 4?

Rachel McAdams in The Time Traveler's WifeMania reports that "reliable sources" have revealed that Rachel McAdams (The Time Traveler's Wife, the upcoming Sherlock Holmes) has met with Spider-Man 4 producers and may play "Felicia Hardy, known to comic fans as The Black Cat."

The Black Cat in The Amazing Spider-ManIn the comic books, The Black Cat is a thief that ultimately becomes romantically involved with Spider-Man. Spider-Man 3 tried to create a romantic triangle between Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), and Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard). Spider-Man 4 may try the same tactic, though it will also contain a second villain, with the sources revealing that Sony is looking to cast a male in that role, debunking rumors that Spider-Man's professor, Dr. Curt Conners (Dylan Baker), will finally become The Lizard.

Then again, can a rumor overturn another rumor? Stay tuned as we for more Spider-Man 4 updates and we'll sort all this out.

  • Sherlock Holmes Goes Viral

Sherlock HolmesViral marketing has become the best way for studios to tease potential audiences about movies that might otherwise be overlooked. A perfect example is the immersive MNU site that heralded the coming of District 9. Now, director Guy Ritchie's latest film, Sherlock Holmes, has gone viral.

When you enter the site, you are shown five blank boxes and left to figure out the password. (Since there are no clues, we don't feel guility telling you that the password is I-R-E-N-E for Irene Adler, Rachel McAdams' character.) A short video plays, a mysterious hooded man explains the "four indispensable conditions" of the magus (which we won't spoil for you), and then you are asked to enter your age and email address. Doing so rewards you with a crypric message.

Well, what else would you expect from the worlds' greatest detective?

  • Sherlock Holmes a "Bromance" Flick?

Sadly, it took a divorce from Madonna to get Guy Ritchie to return to feature filmmaking full-force (we're not counting Swept Away). After the Snatch-esque RocknRolla proved he still had the right stuff, Ritchie jumped right into the director's chair on the big-budget period film, Sherlock Holmes.

The thinking-man's detective might seem like an odd fit for Ritchie, the king of hip, modern gangster movies, but Robert Downey Jr. (Holmes) thinks Ritchie was a perfect choice to direct:

I've been around and Guy really knows how to tell a story. He's done complex storytelling very well, and he's got a great visual sense. And, I think that between that stuff and Jude Law and I really, really becoming very close-knit in our preparation for this, and we've got Rachel McAdams playing the diva adventuress. We just had a great cast and we had a fantastic time shooting it.

McAdams plays the love interest in the movie, but at a recent press event she said that the real romance was between Holmes and Watson. Downey Jr. joked along, saying that Holmes and Watson shared "circumstantial homosexuality." He went on to say:

Before Jude said he was going to do the movie, before he said that he was available, before he said that he either did or didn't want to be courted, we just started talking like two serious actors about what would need to happen to make this work as a piece of straight drama.

We just became really close, really quickly, because we just rolled up our sleeves and started working from jump.

  • Eric Bana on The Time Traveler's Wife

Time Traveler's Wife posterWith The Time Traveler's Wife only a month away from its theater release, Eric Bana (Henry DeTamble) spoke to Sci Fi Wire about fans, the movie's delay, and the original source material.

When asked whether his Star Trek XI role delayed the movie's release, he said:

I was bald for Star Trek, so we had a couple things that we still had to shoot, and it didn't really matter. So I just thought, "Why not wait for me to grow it if you don't need it [earlier] anyway, rather than wearing a wig, basically?" It didn't have any effect on the film or the release date.

We're sure it's a relief to fans that Bana will be neither bald or remotely Romulan in the epic romantic time-travel flick — co-star Rachel McAdams (Clare Abshire) might have had a difficult time overlooking that small detail.

  • First Time Traveler's Wife Trailer & Teaser Poster

Time Traveler's Wife posterA trailer for New Line's The Time Traveler's Wife has been released online, as well as an image of the first teaser poster.

The Time Traveler's Wife is the story of Henry DeTamble, a man who involuntarily time travels between his past and future. Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, it's a sci-fi story with a twist, and a romance to rival Titanic.

Starring Eric Bana (The Hulk) and Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls), and directed by Robert Schwentke, the movie looks sure to please fans of the book. Bana looks the part of a librarian, and we all know McAdams is a master of tugging at heartstrings — two minutes of The Notebook and most eyes well up. We're betting this will be huge with the female crowd — epic romance is all the rage these days.
