  • Jay Mohr Joins Clint Eastwood's Hereafter

Jay MohrComedian Jay Mohr has joined the cast of Clint Eastwood's next project, the supernatural drama Hereafter, according to Variety. Mohr, 39, was a recurring cast member on Saturday Night Live in the mid '90s and has also starred in the TV series Ghost Whisperer and Gary Unmarried.

The script for Hereafter was written by Peter Morgan, who also wrote the screenplays for Frost/Nixon and The Queen. The story is a meditation on death that follows the parallel stories of three people: Matt Damon, a factory worker with the ability to see the deceased; Belgian actress Cécile de France, a journalist who's had a brush with death; and a London schoolboy, yet to be cast.

Mohr will play Billy, the brother of Damon's character. Production is already underway, with shooting schedules in Paris, London, Hawaii, and San Francisco. DreamWorks has slated the movie for a December 2010 release, placing Hereafter at the heart of Oscar season.

The Oscars have be good to Eastwood as of late, with five of his last six movies earning at least one Oscar nomination. We'll find out if Invictus will continue that trend when the Oscar nominations are announced Tuesday morning. Eastwood won his second Best Director Oscar in 2004 for Million Dollar Baby, which also won Best Picture.

  • Bryce Dallas Howard on the Possibility of Appearing in Another Spider-Man or Terminator

Bryce Dallas HowardWhen Bryce Dallas Howard replaced Rachel Lefevre as Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, it was her third franchise after Spider-Man and Terminator. However, whether Howard will appear in another Spider-Man or if another Terminator will ever get made is unknown. Howard told ComingSoon that returning for another Spider-Man is possible, even if she hasn't been contacted yet.

I mean, it was really made clear to me when we all did Spider-Man 3 that it was entirely possible that a character could come back or a character could not and this could be just a specific plot line to that film because there's so many stories in the comic book series and you want to pack as much in as possible so it's truly up to [director] Sam [Raimi], up to, you know, the writers and the people who have done such an amazing job protecting that franchise and choosing the best story lines for audiences and I'm a fan first.

Terminator Salvation director McG plans to make more Terminator movies, which is great news for Howard who would love to make another. It's just a matter of whether a sequel gets made.

I haven't signed anything that would obligate them to me or me to them or anything like that because it was ... that film was made with a lot of humility, you know, it's like we'll do this one the best that we can and if people ask for more then they ask for me. But, it's an incredible group. We are all fiercely committed to the story, I mean, it's Terminator for goodness sakes. So, yeah, if that comes about I would, you know ... and if I should be so lucky that they invite me back, I would be loathed to walk away from that.

Howard's next movie is the upcoming period piece The Loss of A Teardrop Diamond, which opens in limited release later this month. Howard makes her Twilight debut next summer, in what will likely be just the beginning for Howard's run in the Twilight franchise.

I don't want to give anything away, but there's – Victoria has a lifespan is what I'll say.

  • Summit and Rachelle Lefevre Go Head-to-Head in the Press

A day after the news broke that Rachelle Lefevre was being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Lefevre has come forward and offered some explanation to her shocking exit from Hollywood's hottest franchise.

Rachelle LefevreThe flame-haired actress said she was "stunned" at Summit's decision to recast the role of vampire Victoria, and that she was "fully committed" to The Twilight Saga. It turns out all the drama is about a movie Lefevre signed on to shoot in August. From her official statement, she said:

My commitment to Barney's Version is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me.

Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.

I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I've received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit's surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.

EclipseSummit has released a statement of its own, citing scheduling conflicts and withheld information as the main reasons for getting rid of Lefevre.

Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE's principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

Contrary to Ms. Lefevre's statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre's commitment to the other project — which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment — makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

Oh dear. We prefer our vampire fights in books and on the big screen. No comment (yet) on director David Slade's Twitter page.

  • Fan Reaction to Replacement of Rachelle Lefevre in Eclipse

Bella and EdwardNews that Bryce Dallas Howard is replacing Rachelle Lefevre in Eclipse has set off a firestorm of reaction — and speculation — among Twilight Saga fans.

The responses range from disapointment and anger to some funny jabs and wild conspiracy theories. Here are our favorite reactions to date.

just look at her face??? is it sparkling??
*rings David Slade and threatens him with a water bomb if Eclipse is anything but magnificent*
The TRUTH of the matter is that Rachelle was having TOO many relations with Pattinson... KStew [got] jealous, had her kicked off the shoot, and had Herbert Hoover reincarnate and delevop a cover story with Rachelle working with DeNiro... There are also rumors that she impregnated Taylor.
Ron Howard for Breaking Dawn.... anyone?
    Finally, improvements!!! :D Redhead = Reooooowr! :)

And here are two (serious) reactions that ... well, defy categorization.

Is Victoria even in Eclipse ?
What! Hopefully she's back for Breaking Dawn!

  • Bryce Dallas Howard Replaces Rachelle Lefevre in Eclipse

Bryce Dallas HowardRachelle Lefevre has had to leave her Twilight Saga role as bad-ass vampire Victoria, citing "scheduling conflicts" as the reason behind her departure. Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator: Salvation, The Village), Ron Howard's daughter, is set to take over the part for third franchise movie Eclipse. Summit's president of worldwide production and acquisitions Eric Feig has this to say about the casting change:

We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise. Rachelle brought "Victoria" to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.

This will be a blow for those Twilighters who like Lefevre, movie continuity, and Victoria as she is. Surely Lefevre could have switched her schedule to fit with Summit's, if she'd really wanted to. We doubt she's going to get a better offer than The Twilight Saga, so why jump ship now?

  • Bryce Dallas Howard's Script Picked up by Universal and Imagine

The Hollywood Reporter says that Universal and Imagine have obtained the rights to The Originals, a new script from Bryce Dallas Howard, best-known for her roles in Terminator Salvation, Spider-Man 3, and The Village. Howard wrote the screenplay along with Dane Charbeneau and the movie may serve as a directing vehicle for her father, Ron Howard, although there's no official word on that.

The younger Howard came up with the idea for the script a few years ago in an attempt to tackle issues and anxieties germane to today's younger generation. The Originals tells the story of a group of twenty-somethings who grew up together and reunite in New York after they find out a beloved teacher has fallen into a coma.

The script is still in development, and no directors, cast members, or release dates have been announced.

  • McG Talks Terminator Salvation Casting Choices

Terminator SalvationJoseph "McG" McGinty Nichol has come a long way from his humble beginnings shooting still photos of local bands in Newport Beach, California. McG's still photography led to him shooting music videos and music documentaries before Hollywood came a-calling in the form of Drew Barrymore's big-screen adaptation of the classic TV series Charlie's Angels.

The McG-directed films Charlie's Angels and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle were both financial successes, but McG immediately tried to distance himself from those films in favor of "more substantial material." If McG's latest project, Terminator Salvation, is even half as good as the trailers, the film's release should obliterate any further references to Angels when discussing McG's work.

There are many elements that go into making a film both a critical and a financial success, but arguably one of the most important factors is hiring the right actors to bring the story to life. In a recent interview, McG was asked about some of his Terminator Salvation casting decisions. About Christian Bale, McG said:

I wanted him to play Marcus, but he was more interested in playing Connor, and we went about the business of working on the script. Christian Bale is so passionate about acting and about his craft. He has no entourage. He's got no assistant. He is about the work. That's who he is. And, to work with an actor who's that focused and that intense, is to all of our benefit.

McG goes on to discuss casting Bryce Dallas Howard and Moon Bloodgood:

I took one look at Bryce, and I know a thing or two about her upbringing and who she is as a young lady, and I thought that she was effectively a wonderful First Lady choice for this world. Then, you take a look at Moon, and Moon, to me, is the third leg of that triangle of Ripley and Sarah Connor. Moon can damn well do one-handed pull-ups on a psychiatric bed, turned upside down, and that's following in the footsteps of Sarah Connor. She is a survivor and she doesn't have a rich uncle in Hollywood. She's got to pick herself up by her own boot straps and make it happen, and I responded to that. I said, "I believe you would be the last woman standing, so come be a part of this."

Terminator Salvation also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reece and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, a human-Terminator hybrid.
