In a recent interview with Playboy, Shia LaBeouf spoke about his car accident last July and expressed contrition for his mistakes. LaBeouf was driving while intoxicated, and his Ford F-150 collided with another vehicle, causing it to flip over.
He suffered some injuries to his head and knee and had extensive surgery on his left hand, briefly curtailing his ability to work. He said that he still feels pain when performing some basic daily routines, but at the same time, he feels that the experience was a needed wake-up call:
This accident is what I needed in my life. I'm not in control. For the first time, I can admit that and know that -- the hand is like a tattoo that says "Mistake."
LaBeouf also talked about his childhood, when he starred on Disney's Evan Stevens. According to him, there might be footage in a Disney vault of him running naked around the set. He also talked about the permissive environment he grew up in, around LA's Echo Park area, as well as crushing on Lucy Liu, who he said "would play with my mind" on the set of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
He also gave a pithy description of director Michael Bay, who directed him in the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen:
He'll blow things up for no reason, just to get a reaction. The guy's a maniac.
