With Madea Goes to Jail ruling the box office these past two weekends, Lionsgate has acquired the rights to two more Tyler Perry flicks: Why Did I Get Married Too and I Can Do Bad All By Myself.
Tyler Perry will, of course, write, direct, and star in both films. Taraji P. Henson, who received an Oscar nod for her role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will star in I Can Do Bad All By Myself. The film is set to begin shooting March 16 and be in theatres on September 11.
Why Did I Get Married Too is a sequel to 2007's Why Did I Get Married. It's set to be in theatres April 2, 2010, for the Easter weekend.
Lionsgate and Perry first partnered on Diary of a Mad Black Woman in 2005. They've since released six more of his films. In total, Perry's seven films for the studio have earned nearly $350 million at the domestic box office and sold close to 25 million DVDs.
