  • Mad Max 4: Fury Road to Start Production in 2010

poster for Mad MaxAustralia scores a big movie production just days after Green Lantern packed up its gear and headed to New Orleans.

The Daily Telegraph reports that production will begin in Sydney and New South Wales on Mad Max: Fury Road, with director George Miller at the helm. Miller directed three previous installments — Mad Max, The Road Warrior, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

The production is a huge boost for Australia's movie industry with Premier Nathan Rees proclaiming that Mad Max 4 shooting in Australia "is a clear vote of confidence in Australian expertise" and "proves that Sydney is an international contender for major film production." All three of the Mad Max movies have been produced in Australia.

No actor has been named for the iconic role of Max, made famous by Mel Gibson, who will not return. Rumors persist that Sam Worthington will play the role, though E!Online UK reports that Bronson's Tom Hardy is in talks for role, with Miller wanting Charlize Theron for the female lead. Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner has screen tested for role, saying he's "fighting" for the part.

Work has already begun on Fury Road, as Miller showcased some of the cars he's been putting together on ABC News in Australia.

  • Justice League Movie Will Be Made Eventually

Justice LeagueA Justice League movie has been off and on for years now, yet George Miller, the more frequently on again and off again director of the proposed movie, told MTV:

I’m still attached to the film. Warner Bros. is waiting to develop the other characters a little bit and then bring Justice League together. After the success of [The Dark Knight], it’s well known that they will develop the other characters and then bring them together in Justice League. That’s a fair way down the track.

So break out the popcorn and soda! Just put them back. Immediately. Then break them out again many years later.

  • Teresa Palmer Finally Talks Justice League

Teresa PalmerThe Bedtime Stories star remained coy when speaking to us about the upcoming Justice League movie, citing that she couldn't "talk about it because it's not official yet." However, Palmer was more forthcoming with her native country's Herald Sun, telling them, "I was going to be playing a villain, which would be so exciting and totally different from anything I've done before. And with George Miller, an Aussie icon. Plus, I'm good friends with Megan [Gale], it would be so brilliant for her to be cast as Wonder Woman. Fingers crossed it will happen."

And we thought talking about the movie "wasn't allowed." Maybe next time we speak with Palmer, we'll break out the Australian accents.

  • Even the Justice League needs writers

In the end, the greatest assemblage of superheroes on screen was no match for the Writer's Guild of America.

Warner Bros. mega-expensive Justice League of America has been officially grounded for now due to unresolved script issues coupled with problems receiving a much-needed tax break from the Australian Government for the shoot.

Warner Bros. promises the project will happen, although whether director George Miller and the young cast chosen to portray the super team are available when and if it does remains to be seen.

  • Rumored Justice League Man of Steel Casting

Rumors continue to swirl around the web for the casting of fan boy dream project, Justice League, which is being directed by George Miller (Mad Max) with a likely budget somewhere in the trillion dollar range (give or take a few dollars).

Today's rumor is around one of the biggest characters, the Man of Steel himself, Superman. To keep costs down, Miller appears to be opting for lesser known talents rather than casting the actors who have played the parts recently or in the past. Word on the street today (according to Times Online) is that Rupert Evans, best known as the FBI agent from Hellboy, is being considered for the role.

This, of course, brings to question the idea of a Brit portraying the most iconic of American characters. But that's for the fan boys to fight over - we just report the stuff.

More on Justice League casting as we hear it...
