• Jennifer Hudson to Sing at Super Bowl

  Jennifer Hudson is set to take the stage and sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl on February 1 in her first public appearance since the tragic murders of her mother, brother, and young nephew. A few days later, the Oscar-winning actress, who starred in Dreamgirls and had a supporting role in the Sex and the City movie, is set to perform at the Grammys' MusiCares event in Los Angeles. She's also nominated for four Grammy Awards, which will be given out on February 8. Hudson was last seen on the big screen in The Secret Life of Bees. Last October, her mother, 29-year-old brother, and 7-year-old nephew, were slain in Chicago. Her estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the murders.

• Jennifer Hudson's Mother, Brother Reportedly Found Dead

  The Associated Press is reporting that police today found two people, both believed to be relatives of Jennifer Hudson, shot dead at a home on Chicago's South Side. According to police spokeswoman Monique Bond, the deaths were believed to be the result of domestic abuse. An Amber Alert has been issued for seven-year-old Julian King, believed to be the grandson of the female victim, who was reported missing.

  Hudson, who grew up in the Chicago area, won the 2007 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the musical drama Dreamgirls.

• Movie news: Hudson & Cheadle

  Don Cheadle, who may be best known for his dramatic turns in movies such as Reign Over Me, Talk to Me, and Hotel Rwanda has signed on to join Emma Roberts in the family movie, Hotel for Dogs. Perhaps Hotel for Dogs wil be a message movie after all. Or perhaps Cheadle just needs to be in something light for a change.

  Also,Sex and The City: The Movie has a new character in the form of Jennifer Hudson. The Oscar-winning Effie will play Carrie Bradshaw's assistant. Say, we're writers living in a big city. We could use an assistant. Maybe she wants to work for us instead?
