  • Barbarella Remake Gets New Life

For the uninitiated, Barbarella is a science fiction movie from director Roger Vadim that was not very highly regarded when it was released in 1968, but is today a cult classic. The film starred then-nubile Jane Fonda in the title role and was an adaptation of the Barbarella comic books of Jean-Claude Forest. The film caused a bit of a stir because of an opening sequence featuring Fonda stripping in zero gravity and for a torture sequence where a device attempts to pleasure Barbarella to death.

There have been many who have expressed interest in doing a remake of the film over the years, but the idea never gained any real traction until it was announced in May 2007 that Robert Rodriguez was fronting an effort to bring the space vixen to life. After that announcement, rumors circulated that Rodriguez's girlfriend at the time, actress Rose McGowan, would play the role of Barbarella, but one year later Rodriguez declared the project dead.

Now, it seems, Barbarella has new life. The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that Dino & Martha De Laurentiis are producing the Barbarella remake and that they've hired Joe Gazzam to write the screenplay, with Robert Luketic in talks to direct. But, with Rodriguez and McGowan out of the picture, who will play the title role? According to some reports, Golden Globe-winner Emily Blunt is in talks for the role, along with fellow Brit Sienna Miller, who currently stars as The Baronness in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. However, since the De Laurentiis' project does not currently have studio backing, it may be some time before we know who will be wearing Barbarella's see-through space-age apparel.

  • Sienna Miller Likens Her G.I. Joe Experience to Silence of the Lambs

G.I. JoeProducer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opened nationwide Friday and despite mostly negative critical reviews so far, it's likely that fans of the the cartoon, toys, and comic book that inspired the movie will be thrilled to see their heroes and villains come to life, especially when one of those villains is Sienna Miller clad in skin-tight black leather as The Baronness.

But, according to Miller, the fantasy does not always live up to the reality. She told a London gossip magazine that the suit "will get men," but admitted that the Baronness catsuit wasn't very fun to wear.

The costume was really uncomfortable. I had this Hannibal Lecter-style ironing board I was wheeled around on because I couldn't sit down, so that was quite fun.

It was corseted and I was sweating in the leather but it's worth it when you see the result because it does pull you in where you want to be pulled in.

In the past, Miller has even been critical of her own performance in the movie, saying that it wasn't "the best acting work" she's ever done.

  • Two More G.I. Joe Clips

Two brand new clips for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra are now online thanks, in part, to director Stephen Sommers and his new website, which has the first clip. No word on whether this is the sequence where Sienna Miller burned her chest, but at least she won't have to worry about explosions until the sequel, which she and the rest of the cast are signed on for.

The second clip (below) also includes the Paris chase sequence, which has been shown in nearly every preview available, But how the two clips work together is anyone's guess, considering they both include Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) uttering the line "he never gives up."

  • Sienna Miller Says G.I. Joe Is Not Her Best Work

G.I. Joe: The Rise of CobraWith a summer movie season that's already seen three franchise films become monster hits — Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince — Paramount Pictures is praying that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra does well enough to become another "tentpole" franchise.

If you listen to the actors involved in the movie, however, G.I. Joe could prove to be a dud. Actress Sienna Miller, who plays The Baroness, recently said, "You know, G.I. Joe, it's not going to be the best acting work we've ever done." Miller's co-star, Channing Tatum, who plays Duke, didn't sound too confident about the success of the film when he added, "I hope it does okay."

  • New G.I. Joe Posters and TV Spots

In one of the strangest promotional campaigns we've ever seen, Paramount has been pimping G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra by releasing nothing except a non-stop barrage of posters and what essentially amounts to different cuts of the same trailer. Today is no exception, with two more posters released, this time of Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) and two new TV spots.

Today, though, the latest TV spots actually contain a few moments of unseen footage, including an attack by Snake Eyes on Storm Shadow's car and the reveal of a fight between the Baronness (Sienna Miller) and Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), while the second has more footage of Duke (Channing Tatum). Watch them both below:

  • Sienna Miller's G.I. Joe Figure Is Proportional

Being an international sex symbol, Sienna Miller is used to probing questions about her body, but recently the questions have been more about her "action" figure than her actual figure.

Starring as The Baroness in this summer's effects-intensive toy-to-film adaptation, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, it was inevitable that Sienna be immortalized as a tiny plastic figure.

When asked if her action figure would resemble her, Sienna said:

I got measured in this pod so the doll is exactly to scale, every nook and cranny.

    Sienna joked:

Kids will be killing me, because I am the baddie.

From producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is directed by Stephen Sommers and also stars Dennis Quaid as Hawk, Rachel Nichols as Scarlett, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander and Channing Tatum as Duke.

Tatum and Wayans show off their "accelerator suits" -- originally introduced in the first G.I. Joe trailer -- and give the Joes amazing, superhuman abilities. • Channing Tatum Gushes About Sienna Miller

    Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum plays a lot of "tough guy" roles, but he couldn't have been nicer when asked about his G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra co-star Sienna Miller. After breakout performances in films such as Havoc (2005) and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006), Tatum has hit the big times with a starring role in April's Fighting and the upcoming effects-intensive comic book adaptation by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

When asked about filming with a leather-clad Sienna Miller in a recent interview, Tatum said:

She's incredible. She looks incredible in the movie. She is incredible in the movie.

    About Miller off-camera, Tatum said:

She's just the type of girl that when she ... once you're around her, you're just happy. You can't help but ... she makes everybody happy around her. And, she just has that intoxifying thing over the room that she kind of comes in and commands it...

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is directed by Stephen Sommers and also stars Rachel Nichols as Scarlett, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander and Dennis Quaid as Hawk.

  • G.I. Joe is NOT Political

Though "G.I. Joe" is a generic term for soldiers going back to World War II, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura swears his summer blockbuster G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has nothing to do with the modern American military. Di Bonaventura told Entertainment Weekly:

This G.I. Joe has nothing to do with American foreign policy. It's about a team of skilled operatives fighting an evil organization that's trying to take over the world. There are no politics in it at all.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is directed by Stephen Sommers and stars Dennis Quaid as Hawk, Channing Tatum as Duke, Sienna Miller as Baroness, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander.

  • Cate Blanchett Older, Thicker, Classier Than Sienna Miller?

Cate BlanchettAt the London Film Critics' Circle Awards last week, actor Mark Strong said he thinks Cate Blanchett is set to take over the Maid Marian role in the upcoming Ridley Scott Robin Hood flick, Nottingham.

Sienna Miller was originally set to play the part, but she was reportedly booted from the film for being too young and too slim. Ouch. Strong, who will play Guy of Gisborne in the movie, says Cate "is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it." Yes, Blanchett's a wonderful actress, but what does he mean with the "much classier" bit? Classier than if Miller was in it?

The poor girl has already been deemed too young, too skinny, too well-groomed and now the guy has to imply she's not classy enough. Sure, Sienna has been involved with a married dude, but let's remember this is a film that stars Russell Crowe, who has not only been involved with married people but has also violently thrown telephones at people. Talk about not classy.

  • Gossip-girl Musical Chairs

Our friends at MSN are reporting that partygirl actress Lindsay Lohan has pulled a last minute drop out of the upcoming feature The Best Time of Our Lives, about another famous hard drinker - Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

The Best Time of Our Lives, set to star Keira Knightley, Matthew Rhys, and Cillian Murphy, is a passion project for Knightley, whose mother wrote the screenplay. And she specifically recruited Lohan for the part of Thomas's wife.

Lohan, who reportedly bailed at the 11th hour over money, will be replaced by Sienna Miller.

Evidently Knightley's number one priority in casting this role was emotional instability.
