  • Jackson Rathbone Talks New Moon and Taylor Lautner

Jackson RathboneJackson Rathbone, the actor behind The Twilight Saga's Jasper, spoke to MTV about the upcoming New Moon movie and Taylor Lautner's performance as teen werewolf Jacob.

On the subject of his fan-friendly co-star, Rathbone had nothing but good things to say.

Taylor Lautner really stands out in this film, and I think people are going to be really blown away by his performance. You have these great moments that Jacob just completely is winning over Bella. And it's just beautiful to see it. It's all in their eyes.

He also couldn't help mentioning Lautner's new physique, which has been a huge hit with his hordes of female fans.

Nikki Reed keeps telling everybody, and I think it's true, yeah, Lautner's got his shirt off, and he looks good with his shirt off, but you look at those eyes. You really do.

Whatever Lautner's secret is, he's certainly proved to the Summit camp that they made the right decision keeping him as Jacob. For a 17-year-old, he's got commitment on his side — and a cast and crew that are all firmly on Team Taylor.

  • Jackson Rathbone Taken to Hospital After Injury on Eclipse Set

Jackson RathboneIt seems as if the intense fight choreography for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is now starting to take its toll, especially on the fragile humans playing the vampires.

Just two weeks after reporting a story on star Ashley Greene getting "battered and bruised on set," MTV Movies wrote that Jackson Rathbone was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after suffering an unspecified injury while on set. A rep for Summit Entertainment spoke with the press, saying that the injury was not serious.

Actor Jackson Rathbone of The Twilight Saga movies was slightly injured yesterday [September 22] during a fight scene rehearsal. As a precaution, he was driven to the hospital and checked out by a doctor.... He's fine and is back at work on the set of Eclipse today.

Greene told MTV that despite the pain, it's all for the good of the movie.

It's going really smoothly. It's going really well.... We're all working really hard and learning how to kick butt. I don't know if you've seen recent pictures, but I have bruises all over my body. It's those wires. It looks like a hand mark on my arm, and it's definitely from wires.

For a look at that "hand mark," check out this image, courtesy of Radaronline.com.

  • Naibe's TwiCon Wrap-Up with Jackson Rathbone

    Naibe Reynoso

Naibe Reynoso is a correspondent for ReelzChannel TV's Movie News, and occasionally shares stories from the field.

It's been four days of all Twilight, all the time in Dallas at TwiCon, but I finally have my feet in mortal territory again — Los Angeles, where no vampires could ever live because of our year-round Sunny weather. As someone who had a press pass at the convention, my experience was truly out of this world. Not everyone was as lucky, as some attendees didn't get a chance to get autographs from their favorite cast members because the lines got pretty long and they were shut out.

The highlight for me at TwiCon was meeting some of the dedicated bloggers that have made it their passion to write about the series. The women from TwilightMoms.com where so delightful I wanted to have coffee with them even after our "official" interview was over. It was also nice to meet Yvette Caballero from RobPattz News, who told me about her adventures taking candid photographs of Robert Pattinson while he filmed New Moon in Vancouver.

Another treat was being at the sound check for Jackson Rathbone’s band "100 Monkeys." I got a chance to chat with him after he had his "coffee with the fans" event on Sunday morning, the last day of TwiCon. Rathbone, is the polar opposite of his Twilight character Jasper, whose cold demeanor could ward off anyone. He talked about his intense martial arts training for his next movie, The Last Airbender, directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Hmmm, maybe he should be included in our next Twilight "ab-off. In his charming Texan accent (he was raised in Midland, Texas), Rathbone spoke of how much of a pleasure it had been for him to meet the fans face to face.

So I hope to do this again next year. I must say, I am feeling some vampire withdrawal. In 2010 TwiCon is being held in, appropriately enough, Las Vegas, "the City that Never Sleeps", right around the time The Twilight Sage: Eclipse will hit theatres.

  • TwiCon News: Cast Q&A Session Draws 2,500+ Fans
Huge audience at TwiCon Cast Q&A session

It's a good thing the ballroom at the Sheraton Dallas is rather large. Even so, space was tight for the more than 2,500 fans who lined up to see and hear Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Billy Burke, Christian Serratos, Jackson Rathbone, and newcomer to the franchise, Alex Meraz.

Deafening applause filled much of the 40-minute Q&A session, during which the cast took pre-written questions from the fans. A definite highlight was when Burke made paper planes with handwritten notes and threw them into the audience. But what really made fans go wild was Facinelli running down the ballroom aisle to hand deliver one of the planes to an incredibly lucky fan.

Things got a little saucy when Meraz received a request to "take off his shirt" from a fan who's clearly spent some time gazing at the wolf pack's publicity shot, which has several six-packs on display. When asked how he prepared for his role as Paul, Meraz answered "by working out and eating lots of steak."

Serratos talked about how she likes Vancouver, filming location of the just-shot The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the soon-to-start Eclipse. She also mentioned how much she enjoyed working with director Chris Weitz.

When asked what Jasper would name his band if he were a musician, Rathbone promptly responded, "The Ungrateful Dead or 100 Vampires."

Facinelli differentiated his doctor characters in Twilight and Nurse Jackie by saying Dr. Carlisle Cullen is as cool as ice and is the pillar of his family, while Dr. "Coop" is a catastrophe and in constant chaos.

  • Jackson Rathbone to Produce and Act in Girlfriend

Jackson RathboneJackson Rathbone, better known to movie-goers as Jasper Cullen in Twilight, has revealed plans to produce and star in a new flick, Girlfriend. Talking to MTV, he spoke of his plans to team up with a fellow 100 Monkeys bandmate, as well as new director Justin Lerner.

It's an exciting time. I get to play a part in it and have a little bit more say behind the scenes, behind the camera, which is really interesting. It's what I've always really wanted to get into. I love film. I love the art behind it.

Although Twilighters can be sure to show their support, is this the right step for Rathbone? As long as he doesn't forget about his duties in Forks, we can't see that adding an extra credential to his resume will make any difference to his career. He already tours with his music band, so why not produce too? Lets just hope he's not biting off more than he can chew.

  • Jackson Rathbone on New Moon, The Last Airbender

Jackson RathbonWith fan expectations so high for the The Twilight Saga: New Moon, there's bound to be a ton of pressure on the cast and crew.

In a recent interview with SciFiWire from the set of The Last Airbender, Jackson Rathbone confirmed this.

We have a bigger budget, and we have a little bit more pressure to keep that (indie) feeling going.

How does Rathbone feel about the change in directors, from Catherine Hardwicke to Chris Weitz?

In regards to having a new director, nothing changed too much. There was a different, subtle vibe because the director creates the energy on the set, and he was great. We all wanted to come together and make another great piece of art for the fans.

In The Last Airbender, M. Night Shyamalan's live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon animated cartoon series, Rathbone will play the warrior Sokka.

  • Twilight's Jackson Rathbone Turns to Death Metal

Drag Me to HellJackson Rathbone, best known for his role as emotion-controlling vampire Jasper in The Twilight Saga, has signed up to play the lead role in Lords of Chaos. The movie is based on a book of the same name by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind, and is inspired by real-life Norweigan death metal star Varg Vikernes. Rathbone's character is convicted of stabbing and killing a rival musician, and is sent to prison for 16 years.

We're not sure what Jasper fans will think of this oddball role, as it's certainly a departure from mainstream vampire romance. The only thing we can see Rathbone having in common with this character is that he plays in a band himself. Unless he's also a closet Norwegian death metal killer, an interest in music is where the similarities end.

  • Peter Facinelli Completes New Moon Filming

Peter FacinelliTwilight dad Peter Facinelli has now finished filming his New Moon scenes and, in a recent interview with Access Hollywood, had nothing but good things to say about the cast and crew.

Of director Chris Weitz, Facinelli said he's a "calming force" who is "very Zen-like." He also spoke about the first scene of the movie, Bella's 18th birthday party, and said Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) does "a fantastic job, 'cause he just really went for it.'" It sounds like things are going well over at the New Moon set, and with a trip to Italy next on the agenda, the movie seems well on its way to completion.

On a side note, is Peter Facinelli now sharing a wardrobe with co-star Robert Pattinson? Talk about a father-son bond -- we could hardly tell the difference.

  • Party Time for New Moon

The Twilight Saga's New MoonRumor has it filming of New Moon's Cullen-house scenes wrapped yesterday, ending with what looks like Bella's birthday party.

Peter Facinelli (Carlisle), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), Kristen Stewart (Bella) , and Robert Pattinson (Edward) were all spotted wearing birthday party attire, in order to film what is one of the most important scenes in the book -- the scene where everything goes wrong.

We're happy to see that Reed's blonde wig looks more realistic than previous efforts, and this time we hope Rosalie's hair will stop changing in every scene (Twilight, anyone?). Even she isn't clever enough to change her hair whilst running from a murderous vampire. Continuity, people. It's important.
