  • Amber Heard Talks Zombieland, The Stepfather, and The Rum Diary

Amber Heard X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner admitted to Empire that Wolverine 2 is the "furthest along of all the X-Men projects on the boil." The sequel will be an adaptation of a Wolverine solo comic book series from the 1980s that follows Wolverine as he travels to meet an old flame in Japan.

It's actually the story we wanted to use for the first Wolverine film, but [Fox head honcho] Tom Rothman preferred to set the character up with an origin story first. This movie will really focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. We're very fortunate to have a story mostly outlined for us [from the comic book arc co-written by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller].

Shuler Donner believes the movie will also be shot in Japan and is hoping "to have the Japanese Fox executives involved in helping and counseling us" in order to maintain authenticity. She says even screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie is "in Japan in his head." But what will really impress fans is the fighting, with Wolverine taking on both the Yakuza and a ninja clan called the Hand.

What's cool about this part of the saga is that Wolverine will be fighting in a different style to what we've seen before. Mariko's father has this stick-like weapon, so Wolverine will have to fight against that. There'll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts — mano-a-mano, extreme fighting. We're going to come up with a new style of fighting. It's going to be awesome.

  • Aaron Eckhart Would Return for Batman 3, If Asked

Aaron EckhartWhile Batman 3 still technically lives in limbo, The Dark Knight's Aaron Eckhart wouldn't object to a return to the franchise, should Christopher Nolan officially decide to make it. There's only one issue: Eckhart's character, Harvey Dent a.k.a Two-Face, fell off a construction site, and, sort of, well, died. Eckhart explained to MTV that Two-Face's death complicates his return.

As far as I'm concerned, my character's dead. I've sort of just gone on with my life. I don't have any expectations of being in the next Dark Knight, if there is a Dark Knight.

Still, Eckhart would return, if Nolan wanted him to.

If Chris called me, I would certainly do it. I would do anything for Chris. If Chris wanted me to ... I don't know, bring his tea or something like that, I would do it. I had such a good time making that movie, and he's such a great filmmaker.

It isn't too hard to see how Eckhart could return. Considering Gary Oldman's Commissioner Gordon fakes his death in The Dark Knight, Eckhart's Two-Face could do the same, opening up the possibility of a return. However, Eckhart thinks that Batman 3 may focus instead on new villains.

I think [Dark Knight] was always Heath [Ledger]'s movie, and Heath was definitely the motor and the vehicle that was to continue on. I'm not sure that it's not better just to start all over and find different characters for the [next] movie.

  • Could Two-Face Return in Batman 3?

Aaron Eckhart, the actor who portrayed Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, was interrogated by MTV at the Golden Globes about a possible resurrection of the villain in the next Batman movie, and while he does an admirable job of holding his tongue, it's what he DOESN'T say that makes one wonder whether he actually knows something we don't -- and is just not letting on. Check out the clip and let us know if you think Two-Face will return for the sequel.

  • Transitioning from The Joker to Two-Face

Heath Ledger as The JokerSlate.com has an interesting article examining the impact of Heath Ledger's tragic death on Warner Bros.' promotional campaign for The Dark Knight, this summer's hotly anticipated sequel to 2005's blockbuster Batman Begins. Until now, Dark Knight's marketing focused mainly on Ledger's terrifying take on The Joker character, but the actor's untimely passing -- attributed in part to the stress he incurred while shooting the film -- abruptly changed all that.

According to Slate, look for Warner Bros. to shift the focus toward the flick's other villain, Two-Face, played by Aaron Eckhart, and his love triangle involving Bruce Wayne paramour Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal).

  • New Joker pic revealed, and it's creepy

The folks at Warner Bros. are running a pretty clever buzz campaign for The Dark Knight. Though the Batman Begins sequel only recently began shooting, tantalizing bits and pieces from the film are already beginning to surface.

The latest to emerge is a long-awaited image of Heath Ledger as The Joker, which can be seen at ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com. (Wait a few seconds for the Joker pic to appear. - editor's note: the image has now been taken down, but if you highlight the text you'll now find a special treat as well as a hidden message to decode) It's by far the most grotesque version of the character we've seen yet, and probably a bit more accurate representation of the effects of bathing in a vat of acid.

The pic, first revealed on batman-on-film.com, is part of Warner Bros.'s ongoing guerrilla marketing campaign (or is it viral marketing? I always get my pseudo-intellectual corporate terms confused.) to promote The Dark Knight.

Can't wait to see what they'll do to Harvey Dent, also a sufferer of acid-face syndrome (apparently a common affliction in the comic book universe).

Next Showing: The Dark Knight is set for a July 2008 release.
