  • Sylvester Stallone Discusses the "$15 Billion" Scene in The Expendables

    The Expendables

Action movie juggernauts Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis shared the limelight throughout the '80s and '90s, starring in one eye-popping spectacle after another. The three actors even shared ownership of the once-popular Planet Hollywood chain of movie memorabilia-themed restaurants. But one thing they never shared before is screen time. That's going to change once The Expendables explodes into theaters next summer.

Just last week, the publicist for The Expendables blogged about being on set for the filming of a pivotal scene featuring the three superstars in an empty church. In a recent phone interview with EW, Stallone gave a brief description of that historic scene, which he described as "amazing."

Bruce says "Well, there's one other person I want to talk to before I hire you," and then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in. We have a history together. And we go back and forth and I tell him that I should have shot him a long time ago when I had the chance. Then it goes on from there. And here we are, the three of us trying to man up to one another, playing off of who we are, using our baggage in this one scene.

Stallone only had Schwarzenegger and Willis on set for one day, but the scene the three shot together will comprise approximately 5 minutes of the movie's running time. Stallone summed up the significance of it by saying:

It's funny because between the three of us, if you add up all the box office and DVD rentals and all of that, there's like $15 billion in that one scene!

The Expendables also features appearances by Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, and Terry Crews.

  • Details of the Stallone/Willis/Schwarzenegger Scene From The Expendables

The ExpendablesSylvester Stallone has put together a massive, action star cast for his movie The Expendables, including Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren,Terry Crews, and Randy Couture. The movie also contains a scene between Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, which is the first time all three have appeared together in one movie. The Expendables' unit publicist Sheryl Main wrote about they day they shot all three action movie icons on her blog.

The whole crew was mesmerized as we watched the three of them play off of each other in a pivotal scene that sets up the whole movie. And while I can't/don't want to give too much away I can tell you that Arnold's character is Trench and Bruce is Church, the scene was shot in an empty church without extras and minimal set dec and it has tension and humor — what more can a girl ask for! Sly was in top form as a director today and was in total command. Bruce and Arnold were consummate professionals at all times — we got through the scene quickly without compromise. In 6 hours we did wide shots, close-ups, turned around ... the whole nine yards ... pretty impressive. Very Clint Eastwood.

  • Bruce Willis Joins The Expendables

Bruce WillisThe new ultra-violent ensemble flick from writer-director-actor Sylvester Stallone, The Expendables already includes an incredible cast of silver-screen tough guys — Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren. Recently, another action star was added to that list: Mr. Die Hard himself, Bruce Willis.

Willis told MTV that he has not been on set yet, but that he is opening up space in his schedule to shoot a cameo with Stallone and the "Governator," Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I'm waiting for a call from Sly about when we're going to try and make that happen.... I don't know anything about (my character) yet, haven't seen any pages yet. But, I'm excited about it.

The Expendables also features Steve Austin , Terry Crews, and former UFC champion Randy Couture.

  • Bruno Takes on America and Arnold Schwarzenegger

BrunoSay what you will about Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Bruno, it's clear that he'd never stoop to flattering his audience into seeing his upcoming movie. Asked his opinion of Americans in an interview with Empire, he had this to say:

The Amerikanischers come in all shapes and sizes, but mainly extra large. When I first arrived, I thought Ich was in a special airport for fatties. Also America is supposed to be ze land of freedom and opportunity, but they will close a place pretty quick if you start schtupping a guy in a public fountain.

He appears to have absolutely no fear of lawsuits – or Terminators – either. Things go really over the top, even by Bruno's standards, when talk turns to "fellow Austrian" and current governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger:

Not many people know this but me and Arnold actually were together from 1983 for almost 7 minutes. It was one of the heats for the Mr. Universe contest. And Arnold needed to lose 14 grams really quickly...

You can let your imagination take it from there, or check out the full interview over at Empire.

  • Robert Rodriguez Wants Schwarzenegger for Predators

SchwarzeneggerWhat would a Predator sequel be without Arnold Schwarzenegger? Why, Predator 2, of course, which is the kind of cinematic blunder Robert Rodriguez wants to avoid on Predators, an official sequel and not a remake or reboot of the 1987 original.

MovieHole reports that Rodriguez has "reached out to Schwarzenegger" to reprise his role of Dutch from the first Predator. However, Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios "haven't had a response yet" from Schwarzenegger. Being Governor of California takes time away from returning phone calls, it seems.

The Predators script, based on a 15-year-old treatment by Rodriguez and rewritten by Alex Litvak, will not feature Schwarzenegger in a starring role, but rather a smaller, supporting one. The script is apparently "violent -- like the original" and "packed with action." A director for Predators has yet to be named, with Rodriguez serving only as producer for the movie.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger May Appear in Terminator Salvation

    Schwarzenegger

Terminator Salvation will debut in theaters in less than a month, but the producers are still contemplating the addition of at least one more character to the film: the original Terminator, made famous by actor-turned-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Schwarzenegger admitted to meeting with Terminator Salvation director McG, but said that he turned down a cameo appearance. However, in a recent webcast interview with the "Governator," Schwarzenegger said that he was open to the possibility of his Terminator appearing via digital means:

I said that I would be willing to be in the movie if they get the technology together, and so they are working on that right now.

The planned scene with Schwarzenegger would incorporate existing footage from 1984's The Terminator and not require the filming of new footage.

Terminator Salvation stars Christian Bale as John Connor, the man destined to lead the human resistance against Skynet's army of Terminators; Anton Yelchin as a young Kyle Reece (who fathers John Connor in the past, during Terminator); and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, a human-Terminator hybrid.

  • No Arnold in Terminator Salvation

SchwarzeneggerA month ago at the New York Comic Con, Terminator Salvation director McG practically confirmed that Arnold Schwarzenegger would briefly appear in the movie. However, Schwarzenegger has shot down the possibility. According to TheArnoldfans.com, Schwarzenegger has seen a rough cut of the movie, but is hesitant to take part:

I am very happy with where I am with my profession as the governor and they should try to find a way of doing a story that does not include me at all, not even one single shot in it. I don't believe in that. To kind of have them go out and promote the movie and say, 'You know Arnold is in the movie,' and everyone thinks that I'm the Terminator and in fact you only see one second of me in there and so I don't think that's the right thing to do. And you know that's the danger of that, and that's why I feel reluctant to be part of the movie in the first place. So it doesn't get promoted that way.

Arnold's "appearance" was to be solely in the reveal of the creation of the T-800 Terminator, the model Schwarzenegger portrayed in the previous Terminator movies. McG told SciFiWire last month that he and Schwarzenegger were to meet "in a week," but mentioned that getting the California Governor involved "truthfully, was not clear." If that meeting took place, it doesn't look like it was very successful.

  • McG Defends Bale's Outburst, Gives Away Terminator Spoiler

Terminator: SalvationChristian Bale has already apologized for his outburst on the set on Terminator Salvation which became an internet sensation. Now director McG has come to his star's defense.

People reports that McG told fans at the recent New York Comic-Con, "The film set is a passionate place, and it happens. It was just sort of a blowup. We let it run its course, and it did."

McG agrees with Bale that the blow up with Director of Photography Shane Hurlbut did not halt the movie's production. "It's a matter of fact that he and Shane are buddies. We finished the movie together. We did some additional photography about a month ago."

But defending Bale was not the only thing McG talked about at the Comic-Con. He also practically confirmed an appearance by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Salvation. "The T-800s as we know them look like Arnold. The T-800 plays a big role in this movie. I can't quite tell you how we express that -- Let me just hint at this: I don't want today's Arnold Schwarzenegger."

So, Arnold is digitized in the movie? McG could borrow Benjamin Button's special effects to create a 1984 Arnold, which could be effective and ironic.

  • Arnold Talks Terminator Salvation

Arnold, as seen in Terminator 3The producers of Terminator Salvation recently screened footage of their highly anticipated sci-fi reboot for California Governor and -- former T-100 Terminator model -- Arnold Schwarzenegger. After checking out the clips, the Austrian Oak offered his expert analysis to the L.A. Times:

"I still don't know how it will play out with this one," Schwarzenegger told the Times. "They showed me some footage, but I don't have a feel for the movie. I didn't see enough. I wasn't sure who the Terminator was. I don't know if there is one or if he's the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how the strong the movie will be."

Join the club, Arnold. The new Terminator Salvation photo released by Warner Bros. doesn't shed any new light on the highly secretive plot either. One thing we do know is that the fourth Terminator will be the first one without Schwarzenegger, who's too busy terminating his approval rating as Governor to make a cameo in the flick.

  • Lawyers to determine future of Terminator franchise

The killer cyborgs of T3Looks like the unstoppable killing machines of the Terminator films will be sidelined for quite some time, as their real-life counterparts -- Hollywood attorneys -- do battle a Los Angeles courtroom, with the fate of the somewhat-anticipated fourth Terminator film hanging in the balance.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Halcyon Co., the production company that currently owns the rights to T4, is mired in a lawsuit with MGM, with the studio claiming that it's entitled to "an exclusive, 30-day negotiation for distribution rights to the films in the franchise." Said negotiations were contentious and abortive, prompting the litigation.

This one could take a while. Halcyon is still hoping for a 2009 release of T4, by which time Governor Schwarzenegger could very well be Senator Schwarzenegger.

  • T4 a go, Ah-nold and J-Cam a No

Terminator 4 is coming, like it or not.

Variety is reporting that the men behind the rights to the Terminator franchise, Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar, have sold the rights to a privately funded company named Halcyon, which sounds suspiciously like Cyberdyne to me.

Halcyon Co. is headed by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek (who looks a little like a young Michael Bay) and Derek Anderson.

Neither James Cameron nor a post-governator Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved in the project.

Although the script isn't finished and there is no cast, director or start date, the movie is already being slated for a summer 2009 release date.

What little is known about the storyline involves another iteration of John Connor, now in his 30's, leading the resistence against the rise of the machines.
