  • Summit Releases Official New Moon Volturi Images

Dakota Fanning as JaneToday, Summit Entertainment sent the Twilight fandom into overdrive by releasing official images of New Moon's Volturi vampires. Marcus, Caius, Aro, Jane, and Alec are now all available for your viewing pleasure and, we have to admit, they look pretty awesome.

Placed in front of an atmospheric backdrop worthy of vampires everywhere, the Volturi look nothing less than creepy. Pale and menacing is the look Summit's gone for, and it's worked much better than we thought it would. Dakota Fanning looks particularly accurate as Jane, as does Cameron Bright, who's playing her twin brother Alec.

Michael Sheen, Christopher Heyerdahl, and Jamie Campbell Bower complete the Volturi, as ancient leaders Aro, Marcus, and Caius. Bower looks especially good, with slicked back blonde hair, and a black cloak to rival Dracula's. For anyone who thought New Moon would be all bark and no bite, think again — the vampires are back in business.

  • New Moon's Justine Wachsberger on RPattz and Dakota Fanning

The Twilight Saga's New Moon Poster ReleasedFor all those Twilighters out there wondering whether Robert Pattinson's New Moon physique is real, look no further — Justine Wachsberger (Gianna) has all the answers.

In an interview with Popeater, Wachsberger talked about her love for co-star Dakota Fanning, saying "I've always been a big fan. A very talented actress at such a young age". When asked about the possibility of her character returning in a Breaking Dawn movie, she said "I don't know much about Breaking Dawn at all at this point. Right now they're just focused on filming Eclipse. I hope they'll bring Gianna back, but who knows?"

On the much talked about subject of Robert Pattinson and his Edward-like appearance, she said "His stomach is definitely his stomach. I don't think it's painted on. Not that I heard of, at least!" What do you think, Twilighters? Do you agree? We think it might be make-up — after all, he's no Taylor Lautner.

  • The Official New New Moon Trailer, Plus Fan Reaction

This past weekend, the New Moon trailer hit the big screen before showings of Bandslam, another Summit production. The trailer also made a brief appearance on YouTube, thanks to a brazen moviegoer armed with a shaky hand-held camera. We're happy to announce that we now have a high-quality version direct from Summit.

So what do Twilight Saga fans think of this latest trailer? Robin at BellaAndEdward.com had this to say: "The good news? I definitely think it looks like New Moon is going to be better than Twilight, even though it is my least favorite book of the series. It comes across as being much richer visually. It also seems as though they really tried to stick to the books as much as they could."

But the Taylor Lautner narration didn't play as well. "I know they are pushing Taylor to the forefront so much because he is a big part of New Moon," says Kim at cullenboysanonymous.com, "but I would have rather just had a traditional trailer. Plus to be honest, New Moon to me is all about Edward. Why Edward left Bella, what was he thinking, what did he do while he was gone, etc." Michelle at BellaAndEdward.com also wasn't a fan of the interview approach: "As for the narration, I thought it distracted from the feel of the trailer. I can't even consider it a real 'trailer' because it has those little interview snippets with Taylor every 10 seconds."

In total, we posed five questions to some of our favorite Twilight fansites, including "What 'scene' were you happiest to see?" and "Was there anything that made you leery about the adaptation?" How did they respond? See The Latest New Moon Trailer: What the Fansites Really Think.

  • First Look at New Moon's Volturi

Dakota Fanning as JaneThe first images of New Moon's Volturi vampire family have leaked online, originating from an anonymous, unnamed source. The images show Michael Sheen (Aro), Christopher Heyerdahl (Marcus), Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius), Dakota Fanning (Jane), and Cameron Bright (Alec) vamped and suited up, and looking every bit the part of their undead characters. Also shown is the Volturi crest, similar in style to the Cullen crest seen in Twilight.

Summit has hit the nail on the head here, with each of the Volturi members looking creepy and pale, and in no way like someone you'd want to meet in a dark, deserted place. Caius looks particularly menacing — more so than Jane, which is surprising, considering she has killer eye makeup. What do you think, Twilighters? Is this how you imagined the world's oldest Vampire clan?

  • New Moon's Volturi Arrive in Vancouver

The Twilight Saga's New MoonLainey Gossip has posted pictures of Michael Sheen (Aro) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius) arriving in Vancouver to start shooting New Moon. Both actors currently look nothing like their characters, so let's just hope the makeup and costume department do a good job of turning them into evil, old, undead maniacs.

Also pictured is pint-sized Dakota Fanning (Jane), who made a stop at LAX before jetting off for the land of vampires (Vancouver). She's set to start filming any time now, and is due to head to Italy to film the Volterra scenes later this month. A free trip to Italy? No wonder she was so keen to accept the role.

  • New Moon Actors Arrive in Vancouver

The Twilight Saga's New MoonAnna Kendrick (Jessica), Justin Chon (Eric), Christian Serratos (Angela) and Michael Welch (Mike Newton) were all spotted arriving in Vancouver, where Twilight sequel New Moon is currently being filmed.

The human characters are joining vampires and werewolves on the set of the movie, as Kristen Stewart and co. have already been busy shooting scenes over the past couple of weeks.

All that's missing from the cast is the remaining members of the Volturi, who are key characters in the final chapters of the book. Dakota Fanning and Jamie Campbell Bower are the only confirmed Volturi actors so far, though expect further announcements fairly soon. With a domestic release date set for November 20th, Summit had better stop counting their money and get a move on.

  • British Actor to Play Caius in New Moon

The Twilight Saga's New MoonBBC News has exclusively revealed that British actor Jamie Campbell Bower has signed on to play Volturi vampire Caius in New Moon.

The 20-year-old London born actor was last seen in RocknRolla and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and has recently appeared in an episode of TV show The Prisoner.

Bower will be playing the role of Caius, one of three leaders of ancient vampire clan the Volturi, and will join Dakota Fanning, who was previously cast as Jane. When asked about the books, he said, "I hadn't read the books before. But it's a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year."

No wonder he's looking forward to appearing in the movie -- this could make him a household name for at least the next three years. We're sure he'll be up to speed with the books soon enough, or he could find himself with an angry pack of Twilighters to answer to.

  • Summit Confirms New Moon Wolfpack

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the Twilight franchise, has officially announced which actors will be playing the wolfpack in New Moon. Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman are all on board, and will be joining Taylor Lautner in the Quileute tribe.

Each new member of the wolfpack is of Native descent, which should please die-hard fans of the book saga. Due to be released domestically on November 20th, 2009, New Moon is almost fully cast. We're just waiting on powerful vampire clan the Volturi, who so far only have Dakota Fanning as Jane confirmed, then speculation can end and we can all get back to arguing over who plays the better Sam Uley.

  • New Moon to Shoot in Italy in May

Word on the web is that New Moon will shoot in Montepulciano, Italy, in May. Montepulciano's tourism association told staff of Twilighters Italia that the movie is due to film there from May 25th until May 30th.

There's still no official word on whether the Volturi scenes will actually shoot in Volterra; though as far as book continuity is concerned, it would be a good move on Summit's behalf. With Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds, Push) now confirmed to play child vampire Jane, fans are anxious to know who will be taking up the roles of the remaining Volturi. Last we heard of the rumored actors, Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical) found the idea quite funny, and Ben Barnes (Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) knew nothing about it.

  • Exclusive Twilight and New Moon News from Naibe

    Naibe Reynoso

Naibe Reynoso is a correspondent for ReelzChannel TV's Movie News, and occasionally shares stories from the field.

Fans of director Catherine Hardwicke were happy to know she is releasing a book, Twilight: Director's Notebook: The Story of How We Made the Movie Based on the Novel by Stephenie Meyer. It will be released on March 17 and I have learned that Hardwicke and a surprise Twilight cast member will be appearing at a secret Los Angeles location. Hardwicke will have an opportunity to talk with fans about her Twilight experience. But don't expect her to slam the franchise; the book is published by Little, Brown and Company, the same publisher as the entire Twilight Saga. They've released a new exclusive early image from the book that shows the crucial items director Catherine Hardwicke kept with her at all times during shooting (such a toothbrush!).

So now that most of the New Moon cast has been confirmed, most recently Dakota Fanning in the role of Jane, and with prepping nearly complete, the fast track to filming has begun. In a recent interview, Rachelle Lefevre (who plays the sultry and vengeful vampire Victoria) told me that her buddy Taylor Lautner has definitely pumped up for the role of Jacob. "He's been eating a lot of protein to build his muscles, and it's worked!" she said. Rumors had whirled a few months ago that his role was at risk, and that actor Michael Copon would take his place. While it wasn't meant to be, don't feel bad for Copon. His IMDB page lists 7 movies that will be released in 2009/2010, including Night of the Demons about a group of kids who go to a Halloween party, only to have to face down a group of demons! It's no New Moon, but in this economy, at least he's got work!

  • Dakota Fanning Hoping to Join New Moon

Dakota Fanning is pretty excited about possibly joining the cast of New Moon, but she's pretty behind in her homework. She's reading the Twilight books, but hasn't made it too far.

"I haven't read all four yet. I'm working on it. I've just about finished the first one," she told us during a recent Coraline press interview. Fanning also hasn't seen much in the vampire genre. "The only vampire movie that I've seen has been 'Twilight.'"

Her research skills notwithstanding, Fanning is still hoping to play Jane in the Twilight sequel: "Well it's not a 100%, for sure yet that I will be doing it, but it's definitely not like a rumor or anything. It's definitely a possibility, and something that I'm excited about."

What's appealing about New Moon for Fanning?

"The character is what I'd be excited about, you know. It's kind of evil, something I've never done before, and it's a vampire, you know? It's really cool, so I really hope that it works out."

As for the positive response surrounding the announcement of her possible casting, Fanning was very pleased. "I know that 'Twilight' is so sacred to some people and I know that when people cast certain people that people have their opinions and that's their right. It's very flattering that they think I'd be right for the part and I hope it works out."

With shooting for New Moon right around the corner, a final decision on Fanning should be made soon.

  • Chris Evans Takes Fantastic Four Pulse, Declares Franchise Dead
    Fantastic Four

With two Fantastic Four movies under his belt as Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch, and the upcoming psychic thriller Push, Chris Evans clearly enjoys playing characters with superpowers, though he admits that may change.

While promoting Push, Evans told JoBlo.com that there's not going to be a Fantastic Four 3: "I think they're done. They've closed the book on that franchise. I think if there was talk I think that I would've heard about it by now."

A Push sequel is more likely. Push co-star Dakota Fanning said "You never know" to the possibility, with Evans adding: "Well said."

  • Dakota Fanning to Play Jane in New Moon?

Dakota FanningAll eyes seem to be on Dakota Fanning lately. E! is reporting that the 14-year-old actress is in talks to play Jane, a member of Italy's particularly deadly Volturi vampires, in the Twilight sequel New Moon. According to E!'s confidential source, "There were no auditions ... They offered the job to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They've been going back and forth." A casting notice leaked earlier describes Jane as "a petite blonde with a 'Botticelli angel-like face...[and] crimson irises.'" Does Fanning fit the bill? A number of Twilight fans seem to think so, and are circulating an online petition urging the studio to give her the role. Fanning has already hit the Hollywood supernatural hot list, most recently starring as a snarky teenage clairvoyant in Push, which opens on February 6, 2009.

  • New Push Poster

New Push poster Paul McGuigan's latest psychic thriller has revealed a new poster. The movie, about a government conspiracy that enables people to have telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities, seems like it should have been adapted from a comic book -- though it did inspire one, a prequel published by DC offshoot Wildstorm. In an interview with MTV, McGuigan promises the movie will focus more on the characters than technology. Push "has some fantastical moments in it, but we wanted to make it feel like, what if this did exist?" said McGuigan. In some comic book movies, "you tend to forget about the storyline and the characterization and I wanted to do something that was a bit more old-school than that. I wanted the technology to become involved later on."

Push, starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning, opens February 6, 2009.
