    Halle Berry

The producers of Twilight are diving deep for their next picture, Dark Tide, with Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry (Monster's Ball) in talks to star. Written by Amy Sorlie with input from Sukee Chew, Dark Tide tells the story of a diving instructor who faces her fears and returns to the depths following an encounter with a shark that nearly ended her life. Clark Johnson (S.W.A.T.) will direct, with filming expected to begin in South Africa later this year.

  • Halle Berry May Star in Verhoeven's The Surrogate

Halle BerryThe Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Halle Berry is in talks to star in The Surrogate, directed by Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers).

The thriller marks Verhoeven's return to Hollywood after helming the critically acclaimed Dutch-language Black Book and the period piece The Winter Queen, which is still in production.

The script for The Surrogate will stem from the novel by Kathryn Mackel. If cast, Berry would play the part of Bethany Dolan, a wife struggling to bear children. The Dolans find a surrogate mother in Sable, a computer expert who convinces the couple to let her into the family. Sable, however, has a shady past that becomes more of a danger as the pregnancy progresses. The cover of the novel labels it as a "Christian Chiller," although it's unclear if the religious and supernatural elements of the story will translate to the big-screen adaptation.

  • Other X-Men Actors Want Back in the Franchise

WolverineAfter X-Men Origins: Wolverine's huge opening weekend, it's no surprise that Hugh Jackman's co-stars from the original X-Men trilogy would like to follow in Jackman's footsteps. Halle Berry told WENN would like her character Storm to have her own X-Men Origins movie:

I think that would be great. Storm deserves her own movie -- if I can still fit into the suit.

Shawn Ashmore, Iceman in the X-Men movies, told SciFiWire that he is "contracted" for another X-Men and would "absolutely love to play that character again." However, Ashmore hopes to break into one of the X-Men Origins movies since he doesn't believe X-Men 4 will ever happen:

As far as an X4, that's been debated and talked about forever. I don't think an X-Men 4 will happen, and that's my opinion. That's not anything I've heard from anybody official. I just know how tough it was to get everybody together scheduling-wise for [X-Men: The Last Stand]. There's just so many major actors involved. I think that's just such a challenge.

Ashmore feels there's little chance for Iceman in X-Men: First Class as well:

I heard rumors about a young-X-Men movie, and then I heard it was going to be something taking place in the past. So even though Iceman and Bobby Drake are a big part storyline-wise, the way that they set up that character in the series, he's much younger than the other characters. I'm just not sure how realistic that would be. Clearly I'm getting older, so if they were to do that, I'm sure that they would cast a younger actor.

If Wolverine keeps up its tremendous success, Fox will likely make any and all X-Men related movies.

  • Singleton to direct Tulia, then Cage or Panther

SingletonFanboys eager to see Marvel Comics heroes Luke Cage and The Black Panther on the big screen could end up waiting quite a while before either one arrives in theaters.

John Singleton, who is attached to direct both Luke Cage and The Black Panther, will first take on Tulia, based on the true story of 46 African-American residents of a small Texas town who were wrongly imprisoned in 1999 on dubious charges of drug possession. Halle Berry is set to star.

Singleton starts principal photography on the film, which is already being dubbed the Erin Brockovich for African-Americans, in about two months, with a release date planned for sometime next summer.

After that, it's either Cage or Panther -- Singleton hasn't decided yet which one he'll do first. "It depends on which script is available and which one is the best situation for me," he said yesterday in an exclusive interview with ReelzChannel.com.

  • Halle Berry finally coming to terms with her hotness

We must never forget the Catwoman debaclePerfect Stranger star Halle Berry recently reflected on the merits of turning 40 and the lessons she's learned:

"I’ve become really comfortable with my sexuality and making no excuses for it anymore," said Berry. "It’s part of being a woman. It's part of what empowers us when we’re smart enough to know how to use it."

I applaud Halle for having the courage to confront such a difficult issue. Interestingly enough, I've been comfortable with her sexuality for quite some time now. Good to see Halle catching up.

Check out our full interview with the newly empowered star of Perfect Stranger.

  • Halle Berry going bald

While promoting her latest project, the thriller Perfect Stranger, star Halle Berry mentioned today that she intends to shave her head entirely for one of her upcoming projects, the romantic comedy Nappily Ever After. "I'm gonna be greasehead bald," the Catwoman star boasted.

Now, I can certainly understand it when actors ugly themselves up for Oscar, but for a romantic comedy? It's not Bald = Hilarious!!!like shaving her head will make the movie funnier. Besides, the title alone indicates that she's already struck comedy gold.

It looks like Berry's Oscar win for Monster's Ball is finally paying off. Years ago, she could never have dreamed of having access to projects of obvious quality like Nappily Ever After.
