• Super Bowl XLIV Trailers Report #5 - Alice in Wonderland Spot

  The Colts just denied The Saints a goal at the end of the second quarter by holding them at the 1-yard line through three downs! What defense!

  Almost as exciting, but in a weird way, is the Alice in Wonderland spot that was just shown. Could there be a freakier take on the movie than one by Tim Burton? And check out the size of the Red Queen's (Helena Bonham Carter) head.

• Character Jumps Out in New Images from Alice in Wonderland

  The floodgates have opened. It's starting to seem like every time you turn around there's some new dispatch filled with eye candy from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Not to mention all the goodies promised in the week leading up to the movie's Super Bowl trailer. Up this week over at Empire are some more intriguing bits of concept art, character stills, and a short video to tie it all together.

  Of particular note are a couple of pieces of concept art in which the twisted personalities behind the characters really seems to shine through. We have a drawing of the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), who despite being made almost entirely of hearts, looks mightily displeased. More surprisingly, we get the concept drawing of the pirate-like Knave of Hearts along with a couple of production stills showing what Crispin Glover looks like filling out that role. Although The Knave is the head of the Red Queen's army, he is all decked out in black, down to his heart-shaped eye-patch. And he's sporting a pretty nasty-looking scar to boot.

• New Photos Lead in as Alice in Wonderland Gets Ready for the Super Bowl

  Alice is a tease. All sorts of characters from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland now have their own Facebook pages and have been ever so slowly doling out glimpses of their mad and magical world.

  The latest is from the Caterpillar (played in the movie by Alan Rickman), who has offered up a couple of new pictures, one of the White Queen (Anne Hathaway) brewing up some sort of strange potion, and another of her opposite number, the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) looking imperious on her heart-shaped throne. One more picture is supposed to drop on the Caterpillar's site later today, and there are mysterious hints of something bigger for Wednesday.

  Meanwhile, the studio is promising to take TV audiences further down the rabbit hole with new footage and some surprises from the movie in a "week-long, cross-network extravaganza" of sneak peeks, starting January 31st and culminating on February 7th with a 60-second Super Bowl spot, "Tick-Tock."

• New Alice in Wonderland Creature Images

  Disney has released a new batch of character stills for director Tim Burton's latest movie, Alice in Wonderland. Based on the books by Lewis Carroll, Burton's Alice tells the story of adult Alice's (played by Mia Wasikowska) return to Wonderland and her quest to dethrone the wicked Red Queen ( Helena Bonham Carter).

  Previous images and posters have focused mainly on the human and human-looking characters of Alice, the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) and the Red Queen, but these new images put the spotlight on some of the bizarre creatures that populate the whimsical Wonderland landscape. In addition to a clearer image of the Caterpillar previously seen on the movie's official Facebook page, the new stills include the White Rabbit, March Hare, Doormouse, and Cheshire Cat.

• The Red Queen Makes Her Move in New Trailer for Alice in Wonderland

  A new trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is out, full of lush imagery and all sorts of hints about the direction of the plot. The Alice story has been around for more than a century, but as we can see here, Burton has his own take on it, and is whimsically reassembling choice bits of Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass into his own unique concoction, which from the look of this impressive trailer might well be labeled "Drink Me."

  As previously hinted, this is the story of Alice's return to Wonderland, where things have gone a bit sour. Since her last visit, which she can't remember, the Red Queen has moved in and taken everything over. And Alice, in varying proportions, and eventually in armor, is the champion of the resistance, as armies of chess pieces prepare to go to war in this psychedelic landscape.

  There is lots more of Johnny Depp here as a very mad hatter, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, and especially Helena Bonham Carter as the equally mad Red Queen, whose lust for power has quite literally gone to her head. Amazing visuals throughout, which you can also explore at a bit less frenetic pace in the new batch of stills released in conjunction with the trailer.

• Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Trailer Leaked, Movie in 3-D

  

  Anticipation is building around Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Rumours have been circulating that Comic-Con would offer with it some new treats for fans, since Burton himself is there, and apparently those rumours were correct.

  Well, almost correct. The teaser trailer was set for Comic-Con, but was leaked to the internet a day early. Since then, Disney has been trying to close up the leak, but many sites still have the footage online. This one, for instance.

  We can't guarantee how long the trailer will stay up there, but those who are lucky enough to catch a glimpse will probably be bowled over by the footage. In a nutshell, it's utterly gorgeous, even for Burton, and shows off new footage of the the Cheshire Cat and Tweedledee and Tweedledum. If the rest of the movie looks this good, Alice in Wonderland could be Burton's best-looking feature yet — no easy feat.

  Not only that, but the trailer also drops another bomb: Alice in Wonderland will be in 3-D!

• Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: Midnight Showings, Lots of New Photos, Bellatrix Lestrange Clip

  The premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince gets just a little bit closer with the announcement of early showings at select theaters on July 14 (technically, a little after midnight on July 15), in advance of the movie's regular July 15 engagement.

  And to whet fans' appetites even move (as if that were even possible), the studio released more than 40 new stills from the movie. We've also got a look at 5 Real-Life Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Locations.

• More Photos and Concept Art from Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland

  

  All sorts of new images from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland have been appaering lately. Following up on the character posters and amazing concept art that showed up the other day, we now have some full-length character photos of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. Each is posing with an animal: Alice, of course, with a white rabbit, the Red Queen with a baby pig, and the Mad Hatter with another rabbit.

  Transitions between the human and animal worlds play a major role in the original Alice books, and this seems to be a signal that the movie will follow suit. Juxtapositions of size and proportion are also key to the magic of the original and some concept art for the movie featuring Alice among giant mushrooms suggests that this is central to Burton's vision of Wonderland as well.

• Concept Art and Photos from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

  

  USA Today goes down the rabbit hole with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and comes back up with some amazing pieces of eye candy. Alice, played by the Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, is glimpsed wandering in a garden populated by towering mushrooms and flowers with human faces, not to mention being checked out amid some surreal topiary by The White Rabbit. We also get a look the rather disturbing-looking twins, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, who resemble giant bloated versions of Pugsly from The Addams Family.

  To go along with all this, the studio has also released some appropriately surreal promo photos of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as The White Queen. The latter two characters are actually drawn from the Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking Glass, so clearly Burton is aiming to give the Lewis Carroll classic his own unique spin.

  The USA Today article drops some hints about the direction of these changes, noting that Burton's version features a more grown-up Alice, who begins her adventures by escaping from a snooty Victorian dinner party only to fall back into Wonderland. She had been there once before but for some reason doesn't remember a thing about it.

• New Videos, Images, and Twittering from Terminator Salvation

  Three new TV spots for Terminator Salvation are up and although they are mostly remixes of footage released earlier elsewhere, they each anticipate the narrative and build anticipation in different ways. On top of that, one image has been released that is completely new: a piece of concept art giving some insight into the role Helena Bonham Carter will be playing in the movie. Let's just say that she appears to be a little more open to Skynet's project than others. Finally, in viral promotion news, an early battle has broken out on Twitter between Skynet Research, which is making opportunistic use of real news to buttress its claim on the future, and the human resistance, which is pondering a mysterious video that has popped up on its hard drive, apparently from the future.

• Bonham Carter in T4?

  Helena Bonham Carter is very into exploring the role of the bad guy (or girl) these days.

  After coming off her noteworthy turn as Mrs. Lovett opposite Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd and a recurring role as Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise, Bonham Carter is now in talks to take on the part of the primary villain in Terminator Salvation. It is unknown whether bad Bonham Carter is to be cyborg or human.

  The British actress, who got her start as a Merchant Ivory typecast, first went bad in a major box office way in Fight Club and evidently has been exploring her love affair with the dark side ever since.
