Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal have optioned Chasing the Dragon: A Veteran Journalist's Firsthand Account of the 1949 Chinese Revolution for Universal and Tribeca. The movie will tell the story of Mae Zedong's rise to power and the advent of communism in China, based on Roy Rowan's memoir.
On the other end of the spectrum, the indie comic The Living Corpse has been optioned to be made into a movie by Shoreline Entertainment.
The comic, which was originated by Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson, is about a zombie--with memories from when he was still alive--who must keep his fellow walking dead in their graves where they belong. It will be made into a live-action feature to be directed by Justin Ritter.
