• Alvin and the Chipmunks Sequel Due in 2010

  Fox has announced a release date for the follow-up to its shockingly successful CGI talking animal flick Alvin and the Chipmunks. Variety reports that Alvin and the Chipmunks II will debut on March 19, 2010, providing movie critics ample time to fashion some choice barbs for the flick in advance. The first film, which starred My Name is Earl's Jason Lee and Annoying Mac Commercial Guy Justin Long, earned a whopping $358 million worldwide despite garnering a paltry 24% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. No word yet whether Long or Lee will be back for the sequel.

• 17 pics and four clips from Alvin and the Chipmunks

  Not to be left out of the whole CGI-rendered talking animal movie craze, furry woodland crooners Alvin and the Chipmunks have joined the likes of Babe, Garfield and The Cat in the Hat with their very own live-action flick, opening this Friday. Jason Lee (TV's My Name is Earl) stars as perpetually screaming manager/legal guardian David Seville, with Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard, those annoying Apple commercials) providing the voice for Chipmunks frontman Alvin.

• Movie dealz: Brittany Murphy, Jason Lee, The Incredible Hulk and... Ace Ventura 3?!

  Brittany Murphy, Jason Lee, Giovanni Ribisi, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Izzard, Tim Roth, and Lili Taylor have signed on to join the cast of The Other Side. David Michaels is set to direct.

  The fantasy comedy about a grad student who discovers an eccentric group of residents hiding a terrible secret when she is stationed on a remote northern island will start filming in Nova Scotia in November. Sounds like The Shipping News meets Waking Ned Devine to us...

  ...The Incredible Hulk is getting a boost in the form of Christina Cabot (Fight Club), who has signed on to join Edward Norton, Tim Roth, Liv Tyler, and William Hurt in the comic-inspired sequel to 2003's Hulk. Cabot will be playing an aide to Bruce-Banner-chaser, General Ross (Hurt)...

  And finally, not only is there going to be an Ace Ventura 3, but it will star a kid. Twelve-year-old Josh Flitter, most recently seen as Robin Williams' creepy sidekick in License to Wed, has signed to star in the 'comedy,' which will follow Ace Ventura's son (Flitter) as he too becomes a pet detective who must find out who stole a baby panda to exonerate his wrongly-accused mother. Sounds like someone needed money to buy a new pool.

• Never fear: Disney's Underdog contest is here

  Think you have the handsomest, most special dog in the world? Well, you're wrong, I do.

  But nonetheless, Disney is giving you the chance to prove me wrong. As a promotional tie-in for its upcoming release, Underdog, Disney is sponsoring the UNDERDOG Super Pet Contest. The winner will get a trip (for him/herself and the special canine in question) to the world premiere of Underdog. AND your dog gets to appear in a scene in the movie. An unlimited number of entrants will appear in Underdog's closing credits.

  Entries will be accepted through June 1. Movie fans will then be able to vote on the finalists between June 8 and 14.

  Underdog is a live-action, re-imagination of the classic cartoon of the same name. It stars Jim Belushi, Amy Adams, and My Name is Earl's Jason Lee as the voice of Underdog.

  To enter, just go to the contest website and upload a video or photo of your dog doing whatever "super" thing or trick he or she does - from just looking particularly dapper to, oh, I don't know, balancing a squirrel on his head.  

  But, whatever it is that your dog does, I bet it isn't as super as this.
