  • Leguizamo Channels His Inner Sloth in Ice Age 3

Despite having voiced the loveable sloth Sid in two previous Ice Age films, comedian John Leguizamo found that he had to prepare himself to voice the character in the third film, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs:

I've got to walk around the house a lot the day before, working on the lisp so that it's not too much, that it's just right.

Sid's a vulnerable character, with a higher-pitched voice than you'd think. So I have to tighten up, get the voice up there so that he doesn't sound like a sloth who's been out partying all night.

In addition to Leguizamo reprising his role as the voice of Sid, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs features the return of Ray Romano as the voice of Manny, Queen Latifah as Ellie, and Denis Leary as Diego.

  • John Leguizamo to Add Some Crazy Humor to Gamer

GamerMost of what has leaked about Gamer so far is admittedly not very funny. Where's the humor in be manipulated in combat to the death by some master computer geek? But there is a lighter side to this dystopian tale of future gaming, John Leguizamo tells Sci Fi Wire. Leguizamo, who plays the character Freek in the movie, says he is there primarily to provide some comic relief:

I'm like a Renfield in the Dracula story, that crazy guy who's locked up in an insane asylum ... I'm in there; I have all this information, and I'm in the prison. I'm in the game.

In the game, but not involved in the butt-kicking so much. That, he says, he is leaving up to Gerard Butler, who plays Kable, the cyber-gladiator at the center of the action.

  • Is the world ready for the first social network-produced movie? It better be.

LiveMansion.com is a social networking website (a la MySpace and Friendster) with over 100,000 members. Keeping in line with the creative community whose interests it serves, Ckrush Enertainment will be producing Live Mansion: The Movie.

And just what is so exciting about that? Well, Live Mansion: The Movie is going to be the first film produced by a social network. There are 24 finalists for 8 lead roles. LiveMansion.com members earn "producer points" for participating. Over 600,000 votes were cast during the competition for the movie's director.

Actors John Leguizamo (Ice Age: The MeltdownMoulin Rouge) and Cara Buono (Third Watch, Beer League) will judge the final round of casting for the 8 lead roles.

I was all ready to say something snarky about how this doesn't exactly seem like a very promising concept for a movie, but then Leguizamo went and said this: "I thought it would be a great opportunity to help actors that are trying to make it in this industry."

Damn him, and his generous Latin heart.
