• Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell Partner for Holmes Flick

  A trio of comedy super-heavyweights are teaming up to send up the Sherlock Holmes legend. According to Variety, Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno) and Will Ferrell have signed on to star in a humorous take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved detective stories, with Cohen playing the master Scotland Yard sleuth Holmes and Ferrell playing his intrepid assistant Watson. To complete the trifecta, none other than Judd Apatow is slated to produce. (Curiously, Variety fails to mention a director. These movies don't make themselves, people!)

  The Cohen/Ferrell project is not to be confused with Guy Ritchie's upcoming Sherlock Holmes flick, which presumably won't be comedic. At least not intentionally.

• Exclusive Muppet Movie Talk with Jason Segel

  "Enough of the Muppets in Space and Muppets in the Old West," says a thrilled Jason Segel about the new Muppet Movie he's currently writing along with Sarah Marshall director Nick Stoller.

  The duo plans to revitalize the Muppet Movie series, which has floundered a bit since the beloved characters were sold to Disney. The last theatrical Muppet release was 1999's Muppets From Space.

• Early Review: Forgetting Sarah Marshall

  If you haven't heard of the latest Judd Apatow production, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, don't expect that to last much longer. Universal is promoting the heck out of this one and billboards (the ones that say things like "You suck Sarah Marshall") are all over the big cities and the trailer is before just about every movie.

• Sarah Marshall Online Assault From Universal

  Fans of the Judd Apatow family have plenty to keep them busy this weekend. Drillbit Taylor just hit screens (you can read Tom Leupp's full Drillbit Taylor review right here) and Universal is offering all kinds of fun online related to the April 18th release of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. We've already seen the flick here at Reelz and, let me tell you, this one is off the charts funny!

  First there is the official Sarah Marshall site with clips and info about the breakup and more. Next there is Peter Bretter's blog, a domain that used to be ilovesarahmarshall.com but now redirects to ihatesarahmarshall.com. There's a Sarah Marshall fan site, an official NBC Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime page, an Infant Sorrow MySpace Page and even a fan site for Alduos Snow fanatics, otherwise known as "sorrow suckers."

  Universal is really pulling out all the stops on this one and with good reason. Sarah Marshall is one hysterical movie you can look forward to!

• Another new Apatow comedy in the works

  It seems nothing can stop Judd Apatow from filling our lives with comedic glee.

  Not only are fans awaiting two movies he produced, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Pineapple Express, to hit theaters in the coming months, but he just lined up another one. Five-Year Engagement, about a couple's--what else--five-year engagment, will star Jason Segel (Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and be directed by Nick Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). Segel and Stoller are co-writing the script.

• Apatow: Brad Pitt the inspiration for Pineapple Express 

  Does next summer's Seth Rogen/James Franco buddy flick Pineapple Express, dubbed a "reefer action comedy" by producer Judd Apatow, have the potential to rank among the greatest stoner flicks of all time? It's not an impossible feat, considering the "competition" consists of such timeless classics as Half Baked and Dude, Where's My Car?

  What can fans expect from the latest Rogen/Apatow collaboration? In an exclusive interview with ReelzChannel.com last week, the red-hot writer-director-producer revealed the inspiration for Pineapple Express: 

  "Years and years ago I watched True Romance and I thought Brad Pitt was so funny as a character who was on crack or meth, and it was only one scene," Apatow recalled. "And I thought, 'I wish this movie followed him out the door.' I thought it would be great to do one of those pot movies, but with the action of a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, that looked really good and was also filled with people who were stoned."

  Apatow describes the finished product as "this really demented movie that's in the school of Superbad, but also has an enormous amount of action and violence."

• Meet the newest "member" of the Apatow comedy family

  The breakout star of Walk Hard, Jake Kasdan's R-rated spoof of music biopics, could very well be Tyler Nilson -- or, to be more precise, Nilson's genitalia, which shares a good deal of screen time in the film with star John C. Reilly. Nilson's character (named "Bert" according to IMDB) appears at various points throughout the film, inexplicably -- and hilariously -- naked in every one of his scenes.

• Jack Black as Paul McCartney? Only in the land of Apatow

  The folks at Sony hosted a preview today of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, the latest guaranteed blockbuster from the Judd Apatow comedy empire. Starring John C. Reilly and directed by Jake Kasdan, Walk Hard is the first bona fide parody from the Apatow gang, spoofing of Walk the Line, The Doors and pretty much every other musician biopic ever made.

  Being an Apatow flick, Walk the Line also features the requisite number of cameos, including a hilarious scene in which Cox drops acid with the Beatles while in India. Paul Rudd plays John, Justin Long plays George, Jack Black plays Paul and Jason Schwartzman plays Ringo. Much of the scene is spent poking fun at the fact that none of the actors remotely resemble members of the Fab Four.

  Expect a more accurate impersonation from White Stripes frontman Jack White, who plays Elvis in a brief but memorable cameo.

• New Judd Apatow/Will Ferrell movie on the horizon

  Not only is superman Judd Apatow producing anotherWill Ferrell comedy, but they're stocking up on cast members. Step Brothers, which will be directed by Ferrell favorite Adam McKay, will star Ferrell and John C. Reilly as best friends/step brothers/general shmoes. Mary Steenburgen (Parenthood) and Adam Scott (Knocked Up) have just signed on for supporting roles.

• Judd Apatow names newest muse

  Super-director/producer Judd Apatow has declared his newest muse: Jonah Hill, the rotund sidekick with bit parts in The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

  Apatow, who is known for his allegiance to his actors, produced the upcoming comedy Superbad, in which Hill costars with Michael Cera (Arrested Development). Hill wrote two upcoming comedies--Middle Child and Pure Imagination, which Apatow will produce. Hill stars in the latter as a guy who conjures an imaginary girlfriend.

  To get fans amped up for their upcoming summer blockbuster Knocked Up (aka Judd Apatow's follow up to The 40-Year-Old Virgin), our friends at Universal have put together quite a fancy website.

  The Knocked Up website has all sorts of features for fans who just can't wait for the movie to reach full term, including The Edit Bay (additional movie clips, deleted scenes, Apatow's Director's Video Diary, etc.), Freebies (a free ticket to Knocked Up for those who buy the all-new unrated Double Your Pleasure edition of The 40-Year-Old Virgin), and more.

  My favorite? Easily the Knocked Up Baby-Maker. You just upload pix of you and whomever you want and it will whip you up a potential future baby. It's very easy. I took a stab at it with a picture of my husband and myself, and suffice it to say, I will be filing for divorce in the morning.
