• Julia Stiles and Anne Hathaway the Newest Spider-Man 4 Casting Rumors

  With the news that Rachel McAdams may not be playing the part of The Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, Julia Stiles and Anne Hathaway have taken her spot as the actresses rumored for the role.

  UGO reports that Stiles has met with a casting company in New York to discuss a role in Spider-Man 4. Meanwhile, Deadline Hollywood reports that Hathaway has been approached for a role in the movie. While neither reports indicate that a particular role was offered, speculation persists that both actresses are up for the role of the Black Cat.

  The character of The Black Cat is still only unofficially confirmed, but the search is certainly on for a female role in Spider-Man 4 — a move that only strengthens the argument that the role is Spidey's most infamous female villain. That is, until both actresses deny the rumors just like McAdams did.

• Julia Stiles Should Star in RoboCop Remake

  We are pretty sure Julia Stiles is a robot. Also, we've always been impressed by her aura of justice and righteousness. For example, say you jaywalked around Julia Stiles, or cheated on your taxes while she was watching. We suspect she'd have something to say about it. All of this makes her an ideal choice to play the lead in the just-announced RoboCop remake, which will feature Darren Aronofsky at the helm and a budget as high as $100 million. Aronofsky is a certified visionary, so perhaps he too will see the wisdom in casting Stiles as his lead. In addition, we'd like to see some Roombas involved in this production. How come there are so many Hollywood action movies about robotic policemen, and none about robotic vacuum cleaners? This is your chance to correct this disappointing imbalance, Aronofsky. • More news: on Watchmen and The Bell Jar

  While the official announcement hasn't hit the trades yet, there is little doubt  -- Little Children hottie Patrick Wilson has a superhero role in his future.

  Rumors have been swarming that he is going to play the Nite-Owl for Zack Snyder's Watchmen, and now it seems certain. Although the up-and-comer would only say "I'm not a good liar, so I really shouldn't go into it," when asked by press on Monday, he appears to have already confirmed the casting to Kerry Washington (with whom he is currently filming the Samuel L. Jackson/Neil LaBute thriller Lakeview Terrace), who was quite chatty about the subject.

  And English majors across the nation can let out a collective cry of joy. Julia Stiles has confirmed that she wil be starring in an adaption of Sylvia Plath's infamous autobiographical fiction novel The Bell Jar.

  The story, which follows young writer Esther Greenwood as she sinks into crippling suicidal depression over a summer int he 1950s, is Plath's most famous work and a touchstone of the modern literary cannon. There was one previous film version in 1979.

  Let's hope the young Ms. Stiles does this one proud!

• What Julia Stiles really wants to do is direct

  Teen movie veteran Julia Stiles (Save the Last Dance, 10 Things I Hate About You) has been doing everything within her power to expand her image.

  First, she signs on for a more serious bit part in the Bourne series, and now at the tender age of 26 she is trying her hand behind the camera.

  For her first piece, Stiles has written and directed Raving, a 20 minute film inspired by a short story that ran in Elle Magazine. It stars Zooey Deschanel and will premiere on the Sundance Channel on Monday, May 8.

  According to julia-stiles.com, Stiles says her short film will be about "how the seemingly simple act of getting dressed shapes one's identity."
